Bisnode is the European leader in big data analytics and data mining services, with operations in 18 countries and more than 2,100 employees across the continent. The company’s Polish subsidiary, Bisnode Polska, is headquartered in Warsaw.

Digging deepEvery day, Bisnode Polska analyzes huge volumes of client data, as well as local and global credit, company and market information to find patterns and trends that others cannot see. By presenting the findings in clear, concise business reports, Bisnode Polska delivers these valuable insights in a way that clients can easily understand.

Marek Dzięcioł, IT Systems Manager at Bisnode Polska, begins: “We work with organizations of all shapes and sizes – from retailers to government agencies – to extract maximum value from their data. For example, retailers can combine their customer portfolio with our external data sources to pinpoint target audiences, enabling them to optimize campaigns to increase sales. Over 150,000 clients use our services to support strategic decision-making, helping them to strengthen customer loyalty, boost sales and drive revenues.”

Serving up these insights to clients takes a huge amount of computing power. With demand for its services continuing to grow, Bisnode Polska was concerned that existing IT systems would soon be unable to keep pace with rising data volumes. To ensure it could keep crunching enormous volumes of data day-in, day-out, and keep client service levels high, Bisnode Polska looked to replace its existing IT infrastructure with a more powerful alternative.

All-new infrastructureAfter evaluating proposals from several vendors, Bisnode Polska chose to team up with Lenovo Business Partner K3System.

Marek Dzięcioł recalls: “The K3System team evaluated our existing infrastructure very thoroughly and took all of our technical requirements into account when designing the new solution. Support from K3System has been fantastic right from the get-go.”

Working closely with K3System, Bisnode Polska implemented four Lenovo System x3550 M5 servers, featuring the powerful Intel® Xeon® E5 processor family, along with two Storwize V3700 storage systems from Lenovo. “The Lenovo servers offered the best reliability,” says Marek Dzięcioł. “What also attracted us to the Lenovo solution was the flexible financing options.”

Krzysztof Sołtys, Sales Team Manager at K3System, notes: “As well as delivering and implementing the solution, we were also responsible for migrating Bisnode Polska’s mission-critical databases to the new environment. Using VMware VMotion, we were able to move everything over without any interruption to services.”

Marek Dzięcioł comments: “Thanks to K3System, the switchover to the new Lenovo infrastructure was seamless, enabling us to continue operating as normal throughout the process.”

Data-driven insight, fastWith its extensive databases all now running on Lenovo servers, Bisnode Polska has seen performance skyrocket.

“We can now run data analyses three times faster than we could before – a fantastic improvement,” says Marek Dzięcioł. “And because we get results faster, we can create reports and share insights with clients more quickly too. This means that clients are well-placed to react to changing market trends and capitalize on new opportunities as and when they happen.”

He adds: “By migrating our databases to Lenovo infrastructure, we not only experienced a 300 percent increase in performance, we have also improved data security. This is a welcome bonus as data is central to our business.”
