Port of Call Scotland
Dancing with Derek….Smile Joyce Birthday Celebrations
Hello Queens Avenue, Hello February. I can not believe how quickly Jan-
uary has come and gone, but we can’t forget the series of great things
we have done last month.
Pictured above we have several of our residents here as they make
Scottish magnets for their fridge for our Port of call Scotland.
Port of Call is a program that allows residents to experience and explore
different cultures and cuisine and learn interesting facts and customs of
the different countries from all over the world.
We look forward to the next Port of call when we visit Ireland in the
spring.
We have lots of great fun activities to look out for in February, we can’t
wait to celebrate with you.

Health and Wellness
Even if your hands appear to be clean, they may carry germs. Hands
pick up micro-organisms (germs) in a number of ways.
When people who are sick sneeze or cough, the germs that are
making them sick are expelled into the air in tiny droplets. If these
droplets get onto your hands, you carry the infection. You can also
get sick if you don't wash your hands before and after preparing
food, and after using the toilet.
Washing your hands not only prevents you from getting sick, but it
also reduces the risk of infecting others. So If You’re feeling unwell
please stay in your suite or have an EC nurse take you back up-
stairs.
Rexall Pharmacy
Tuesday February 11th Rexall Pharmacy will be here at Queens Ave
for a Meet and Greet and
information session at 3pm and 7pm in the Lounge and Bistro. For
any additional information please see the flyer that was inserted in
the monthly newsletter.
Well Hello February! Time continues to march on, and the weather contin-ues to remind us that it is Winter - but every day that passes we get closer to Spring. Did you know that:
There are 48 more days until Spring arrives?
The days are starting to get longer by about 2 ½ minutes of more day-light each day.
Do you know the history of Valen-tines Day? This date was seen as an occasion for a man to present gifts to a woman with whom he had or would like to have a romantic relation-ship. It has evolved into an occa-sion in which people expressed love, friendship and kindness for each oth-er by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards - known as "Valentines".
So welcome February! Another busy month. Please make sure you stop by and say hello to Nicole, and check out the Activities Calendar, including our Valentines Day brunch! On behalf of the Queens Avenue team – Happy Valentines Day, keep active and stay healthy!
Finally, Valentines Day is just around the corner on February 14th!
