How to Build it!

Before you get started, you’ll want to measure out and cut the parts shown in the Cutting Diagram on the other side of these plans. The drawing on the right shows you how all the parts are put together.

NOTE: If you would like to rip 3⁄4" off one 'Part E' for a size of 43⁄4" x 131⁄2" the Roof pieces will look symmetrical once joined.

GETTING STARTED

STEP-BY-STEP

Use 11⁄4"-longPocket-Hole Screws with Coarse Threads

1. To get started, drill the Pocket Holes in the two bottom pieces (Parts ‘A’) as shown in the right drawing above. The location of the Pocket-Holes isn’t critical.

2. Now you can attach the two pieces edge-to-edge like you see above in the drawing.

3. While you’re at it, go ahead and attach all four edging pieces (Parts ‘C’ and ‘D’).

To get some help edge joints, view the SkillBuilder™ "Edgebanding" section on the Kreg Jig® DVD.

4. The next thing to do is attach the two end pieces (Parts ‘E’) to the bottom. You can see where to drill the Pocket Holes and where to attach the end pieces on the right. (The end edging piece is shown removed for clarity.)

5. Fasten a small screw on the inside faces as shown on the right. These will be used for the hanging wire to be added later.

6. Attach the two roof pieces (Parts ‘F’) with a right-angle joint, as you can see below.

ENDS & ROOF

R

7. To add a hanging wire, drill a small hole at the peak of the roof, 21⁄2" from each end. See above photo.

8. Thread a 24"-long wire through the two holes in the roof, wrap each end around the hanging screws, and twist the wire so it’s secure. This allows you to lift the roof off of the feeder when you fill it up with seed.

9. Cut the two pieces of plastic and drill two small holes at each end, as shown below. Fasten the plastic to the end pieces, leaving a 3⁄4" gap at the bottom.

10. Now just fill the feeder with seed, hang it high, and enjoy your new company of birds.

FINISHING UP

To get some help making right-angle joints, view the SkillBuilder™ "900 Panel Joints" section on the Kreg Jig® DVD.
