1. Permanent Ice• Annual precipitation is less than 50 cm. Temperature ranges
from -80 to -30 in the summer
2. Tundra
http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/assignment-discovery-shorts-iii-biomes-tundra.html• Precipitation is less than 25 cm a year. Summer ranges from 3 to 12 degree.
Winter temperature range from -20 to -30 degrees. Contains a layer of frozen soil called permafrost. When it melts in the summer, it creates pools. Very few trees
3. Boreal Forest http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/assignment-discovery-shorts-iii-biomes-taiga.html
• Located in Russia and Finland, 30-80cm of precipitation, temperature are below freezing half the year. Big Coniferous (cone producing) trees flourish in this biome
4. Temperate Deciduous Forest http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/assignment-discovery-shorts-iii-biomes-temperate-forest.html
• Eastern forest in Canada (NOT HERE). Annual precipitation is 75 cm to 180cm. Temperature range from -30 degrees to 30 degrees in the summer
5. Temperate Rainforest• We live here! Rainfall exceeds 200 cm a year. Temperature
range from 5 degrees to 25 degrees in summer. Lots of Douglas Fir trees, lichen and moss.
6.Grassland

• They are mostly flat lands and the soil is rich and fertile, with very sparse trees because of the lack of rainfall
