WHAT IS BIOLOGY ?

The word biology is derived from the greek words “bios” meaning “life” and “logos” meaning “study” and is defined as the science of life and living organisms.

Biology is the study of living organisms, divided into many specialized fields that cover their morphology, physiology, anatomy, behavior, origin and distribution.

BRANCHES OF BIOLOGY

Biology is divided into many small branches. The common sub-divisions of biology are:

● Microbiology revolves around the study of unicellular, multi-cellular and cellular organisms.

● It is the study of microscopic organisms, such as viruses, protozoa, bacteria and protozoa.

● Mycology is derived from the greek words “mykes” which means mushroom.
