BIL 101-102 BILBAO & GUGGENHEIM Half Day

Bilbao is the industrial and financial

capital of the Basque country. The

Romans, who discovered iron ore

mines along the Nervion River which

cuts through Bilbao, built numerous

foundries on the banks of the river

which today are undergoing

spectacular transformations and

renovations.

This tour explores Bilbao's Old Quarter with its famous narrow 'seven

streets', interesting architecture and Medieval heart; providing a stark

contrast to the ultra-modern and visually striking Guggenheim Museum,

which opened in 1997. The building and its remarkable structure are

rivaled by the contents of its galleries.
