Whiteshell Provincial Park Big Whiteshell Lake Campground Whiteshell ig Whiteshell Lake campground is just that - big - with four sections and 78 sites for your enjoyment. A playground, tennis court and amphitheatre are also part of this campground in spectacular Whiteshell Provincial Park. The boat launch and dock are conveniently located within the campground. Take a walk on the Big Whiteshell Hiking trail, a total length of 1.6 kilometers. Whether your are a novice or experienced hiker, you will observe magnificent views and perhaps some wildlife. The park is home to a variety of animals from porcupines to pelicans. Bring along your bike and travel the newly developed nine kilometer, round-trip Big Whiteshell mountain bike trail. Big Whiteshell Lake is perfect for swimming and boating. Attention anglers: the lake is also well known for fabulous fishing in crystal clear waters teeming with fish. Bring your tackle box and rod and try your luck at walleye, northern pike, Big Whiteshell Lake Campground is located just off Provincial Road # 307 on Provincial Road # 309. B Campground Tips •Be sure matches are extinguished. Break them in half before discarding. Build no fires except in a designated firepit or use a camp stove. Before leaving make sure your fire is completely out. Be careful with your cigarettes, cigars and pipe ashes. Crush them thoroughly before discarding. Never toss them from a vehicle. •Please! Do not litter. •Be sensitive to wildlife. Bears can be dangerous and should not be fed. Food must be stored away from your campsite, preferably in a locked vehicle, to avoid attracting hungry animals. Do not store food in your tent. •Warm clothing is needed for cool nights. The use of insect repellent will add to your comfort. Learn to recognize and avoid poisonous plants such as poison ivy. In case of injury or illness contact a Campground Attendant or Park Patrol Officer. They can assist you to reach medical help. •Canoeists and hikers travelling in backcountry areas should advise a friend of their intended destination and anticipated length of trip. Backcountry camping is only allowed at designated campsites. It is illegal to use or transport elm firewood. Fabulous fishing opportunities in crystal clear waters smallmouth bass or yellow perch.
