IntroductionThe Indian wedding industry in the last decade has come to be recognized as an intricately organized business.

From being a simple family affair, it now involves services of specialist wedding planners and Bollywood stars performing for guests’ entertainment.

Industry players say the organized event management industry is projected to grow to Rs 5,000 crore by 2015, with a CAGR of 14 per cent. And of this, the annual wedding spend is estimated between Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,800 crore.

IntroductionTracing the growth of this industry, the demand for wedding and event management education is also on the rise.

The domestic organized event management industry has about 100 players, with some 20 of them run by Bollywood celebrities and few others by major media houses.

Growing Trends The big fat Indian wedding industry is not just about the flamboyant colors, elaborate rituals, food, revelry and boisterous music — but also about glitzy and exotic locales.

Destination weddings at exotic locales have become a trend, in an industry that is growing at about 25 per cent per annum, say industry analysts.
