DAVE & LAURADave and Laura were looking for an affordable house within walking and biking distance of downtown. They ended up purchasing in a transitioning neighborhood that was close to the kids’ school, parks, museums and downtown restaurants and markets. The couple fell in love with the mid-century modern ranch home’s charm, newly renovated kitchen, and bright, window filled, living room. Over time, Dave noticed the limitations of their home, especially when guests would visit. With only enough bedrooms for the immediate family, guests are left to stay on a blow up mattress in the room that functions as Dave’s home office, their mudroom, music room, kitty litter spot, pantry and pass through to the garage. He feels it is uncomfortable for their parents, who visit a lot. As their kids grow they are taking over even more of the space. They are outgrowing their home and need something to function better. Laura, however, is convinced there is more than enough space in their house that can give Dave and the kids everything they need after Hilary’s renovation.
