Welcome to Spanish class! This year your child will continue to learn aboutthe Spanish language and culture through a variety of ways. We will be focusingon a set of four language development skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. I look forward to working with you and your child to ensure a successand exciting year!

¡Hola estudiantes! ¡Bienvenidos! I am very pleased to have you in my class and I know that together we will
have a very successful year. Below are some expectations that will guarantee you a great year!
MATERIALS:
1. A section in your binder for “Español”
2. In your “Español” section, make the following sections: “apuntes/notes,” “tarea/HW,” and
“vocabulario/vocab”
3. Pens and pencils
CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR:
The main rule in our class is respect. You will respect each other and me at all times. Each student is
expected to try his/her best. We are a team, and when someone needs help, we all pitch in. We will
maintain a safe, supportive and productive environment in class at all times.

Performance Based Culminating Assessments which showcase the
student’s use of the language.
Projects Essays Oral Presentations
Grades from this category cannot be dropped.
This category includes Summative Assessments, based on the content
studied in class.
Quizzes Current events Components of an Authentic
Assessment (i.e. Graphic Organizers, Outlines) etc.
Graded Homework
One grade from this category will be dropped.
Students will be evaluated on their
effort in class to grow as world language communicators
through daily preparedness, participation and cooperation.
Grade from this category cannot be dropped.
Student Centered Learning means that participation is an integral part of learning!
We use the communicative approach where students are speaking with their peers and me in Spanish everyday!
We are going to look at the rubric that will be used to grade your child’s progress this year!
