Greater trust leads to better results period.
Learn how to build high trust, and put it to work
for your JCC.
Kory KogonA consultant for Franklin Covey, developer of 7 Habits Of Highly Effective
People Kogon now brings us Coveys The Speed of Trust. Find out why TRUST
can dramatically change your JCC, Y, or camp in 2010.
Trust is a game-changing performance multiplier. High-trust people are more
likely to be promoted, get the better projects, receive more budget allocation,
and enjoy work more. At the organizational level, high trust is an extraordinary
accelerant to your stated 2010 strategic imperatives. High trust will not
necessarily rescue a bad strategy, but low trust will almost always derail a
good one.
Kogon has been honored as one of the Top 30 Women to Watch by UtahMagazine. She is the president of the Tucson chapter of The American
Society of Training and Development (ASTD). She is an active member of
the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches as well as the National
Association of Women Business Owners.
The Art of the Ask: learn secrets of effective
fundraising from a master.
Reynold LevyThe wealth is all around you, and as the title of Reynold Levys book
reads, it is Yours for the Asking. According to Levy, president of New Yorks
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and former executive director of
the 92nd Street Y giving is not a spontaneous act. People, corporations
and foundations donate funds largely because they are asked to do so. Levy
will help you to overcome the fear or simply the hesitation to ask friends and
strangers for money for your JCC, Y, or camp.
Levy will teach you to improve your effectiveness in fundraising. He will
provide you with the language and tools you need to reach wealthy people
face to face, in writing, in large groups, at special events and even over the
Internet. As Levy points out in his book, the rst three letters in fundraising
are F U N and he will show you how to enjoy doing it.
Ever wonder how a business legend thinks?
Youll nd out, as you sit in on a conversation
between Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank.
Bernie Marcus & Arthur Blank
Dont miss hearing Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank founders of TheHome Depot, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists talk about the keys to
building successful organizations. These two partners launched the hugely
successful home-improvement retailer in 1979, revolutionizing the industry
with its warehouse-sized store concept. Their philosophy of customer service
encouraged cultivating a relationship with customers rather than merely
completing a transaction. As Bernie says, At the end of the day, were in the
people business. With Harry Mazier, former president of the Marcus JCC.

To: My colleagues on the Boardof the Bernard & Ruth Siegel JCC
Dear Friends,
As you are making your plans for the coming year,
please include attendance at this years JCCs of North
America Biennial in Atlanta, May 2-5. Attached is a
communication from JCC Association; Id like to add my
own reasons why I found it valuable to attend in 2008:
1. Superb general session speakers on subjectsranging from politics, Israel, Jewish practices &
social action.
2. Break-out sessions tailored for a wide variety
of JCCs in terms of size, population, budget, onsubjects relevant to whats happening here inWilmington.
3. Reallystrong presenters with a wealth ofexperience.
4. Opportunities to meet, consult with, and learnfrom other lay leaders and professionals whoshare similar opportunities & challenges.
5. Great ideas that we can put into action.
I learned things that have helped me in my profession,
as well as my volunteer work. I had not expected that,
and it certainly made the trip worth my time. Finally,
FUN!! It was so great to travel with fellow boardmembers and enjoy the experience together.
You really want to be there!!
All the best,
Sarah Andrus
