With the first issue launched we have indeed found ourselves with uncountable friends throughout Thailand and internationally. With the surprised response it took us aback from making deliveries to many bicycle shops (by the way I am happy that we did manage to deliver to 60 locations for the first issue) and focused instead on sending the copies to our readers who provided us with a nine Baht self-addressed envelop. We had to handle the many enquiries and thank you messages, it was really nice to get all the feedback. We also took the time out to move our offices from Ekkamai to Nonthaburi as space was running out.

When we think of February, the word that naturally comes to mind is LOVE. Being the month of love and passion here is our theme Heart 2 Heart. The love or passion that each cyclist shows that the bicycle is not a lifeless article or object. On the contrary it is full of life and brings the life out of us to make us look and understand things in a new and different perspective. I think the bicycle is a religion in its self as it makes us a better person without us even realizing it. The bicycle can do many amazing things: it can build new and better relationships amongst strangers, friends and most of all family. Heart 2 Heart brings us to meet with people who not only have the bike passion themselves but also work or share with the ones they love. Be it couples, family and even amongst friends, each has a story to tell.

Our team sourced to find the right bicycle for the cover shot that relays perfectly for the theme. We cant just photograph the bike we needed to know the story so we took the opportunity to talk to the man who owns and import the bicycle too. By the way even though February is the month of love you can still share your love 365 days in the year.

It does not matter who you are, what kind of bicycle you ride, what matters is you ride a bicycle.

Mari, aged 37 has been teaching for 10 years. She decided to quit her job in England to cycle around the world with another teacher who unfortunately had to abandon the mission due to family matters. Her journey began on July 29, 2012.

Finding her mission very interesting I want to share it with our readers and checked into her blog.

    1 DAY TRIP

    AMPHAWAOne (Long) Day Cycling Trip

Firstly I will have to comment that this article is not really

for the hard core cyclists as it is about a leisurely carefree

day for you to enjoy. We will recommend some routes with brief information for your going on this one-day trip.

For most cyclists, after having cycled for a while we will face the same problem of where to cycle. We will cycle around the same area repeating the same cycling routes so we will have to change the atmosphere and environment by cycling out a bit further - this is a good way to test our energy and strength.

Amphawa is one of the interesting place for cycling to. A trip to Amphawa is less than a 100 kilometers away from Bangkok which is not too far for a one-day cycling trip. If you are worried you may not be able it through by cycling alone, you can take your bike with you on a leisurely train ride to make it easier for you.

If you have more time, you may want to spend a night in Amphawa and cycle around to see the many wonderful attractions there.

You can even take a boat trip in the evening to see the fireflies at night.

If you really really want to chill out, you can take the roundtrip train from Amphawa on to Mae Klong which is 20 kilometers away. The train stops at the Mae Klong Market.

If you want to visit the floating market you will have to give up the train ride as it runs only until the afternoon (see out the attached train schedule) whilst the floating market opens in the late afternoon. To fully enjoy your cycling trip we highly recommend you take the train from Bangkok to Amphawa and ride your bike for your return trip or it can be done the reversed way.

BAN HOME HUG ORPHANAGE IN YASATHON | Spent the afternoon taking the kids out for a cycle around the orphanage, we gave a donation thanks to some friends in Australia and bought a smile to the faces of some orphan children with HIV. Cannot wait to visit again.

    | HIV

HEADING OUT ON THE FINAL RIDE OF THE TRIP | This was our last day, just under 150 on the road a massive group of local Bangkok cyclists came out to join us and showed their support. There was quite a few people in the group who we had met or riding with us, THANK YOU.

    | 150

PAUL AND I AT CAFE VELODOME | The Tourism Authority of Thailand came out and signed our book like they have done in every province we visit. This was the last to complete our log book contains signatures of bicycle shops, accommodations and TAT office in every province.

    |

AMAZING YOUNG SOLO THAI RIDER | This man was cycling from North to South and East to West the furthest point in each direction in Thailand, by himself on a very simple budget. Over 4 months we had seen more of Thailand that many Thais will ever get to visit.

ROAD MARKER IN MAHA SARAKHAN | We take photos with most of the road markers in every provincial capital, to show we had been there. This one in Maha Sarakham had seen better days but it was just one thing to show people that you can go anywhere in Thailand on a bicycle.

    |

TAKING A BREAK IN HILLS OF PHRAE | We were not in a race and we stopped for rest, whenever we needed it. Just a few moments ago Paul was not smiling at all as he was too tired to make it up this hill. It was hard work but the reward is the downhill on the otherside.

    |

TAKING A BREAK IN NATIONAL PARK | While in Sa Keao we had on old friend of mine take us out off the bike for the day, we visited the local waterfall at the national park plus headed out for boat ride on the provincial dam. It was a nice break of the bike.

    |

FLAT TIRE IN SI SA KET | An amazing group of riders came up with us and rode 100 plus km. Somewhere along the way we got a flat tire. In the heat and all we got it sorted out and were back on the road. Got to thank Jame from Si Sa Ket who is now a good friend.

NAKHON PHANOM AND GANG JAKKAYARN | We had a lovely evening ride with a group of cyclists from Nakhon Phanom, young friendly group of casual friends that just enjoys to ride. You can make friends with other cyclists wherever you go. We all have something in common.

    |

TAKING A SHORT CUT IN CHIANG MAI | Amazing photo of the bicycle in a boat, destroyed our budget for the day but it was so very pretty, it only save us 30-40 kms of cycling but this 15 km boat ride across the dam in Mae Pang was a lovey hour spent enjoying the fruits of our cycling.

    | 30 40 . 15 .

LOST IN TRAT | We used GPS to get us around, planning our route using google maps, it was pretty good 99% of the time but on occasions wed end up in the middle of field with no road and nowhere to go but backwards. All part of the adventure.

    | GPS Google 99%

MAKING NEW FRIENDS IN TAK | This lovely family took us into the home for a couple of day and looked after us, the mother had been following our journey on facebook and offered a a place to stay and food in out tummy. We could not say no, and we are very glad we didnt.

CYCLING DOWN SOUTH IN THE RED ZONE | You can see in this photo how strange we must have looked to locals as we rode towards them, so many people stopped and stared at us, it was a little daunting at first but after 150 day you really dont notice anymore.

NEW FRIENDS IN PATTANI | We cannot say enough about riding in the lower 3 provinces, the roads are quiet, the people are super nice and countryside is amazingly pretty, its a shame so manly cyclists skip this area, when they could be enjoying all it has to offer.

BEACHSIDE IN SONGKHLA | Riding the cost is always fun, from hundreds of kilometres we stayed in cheap accommodation right on the beach, it was always great to wake up in the morning and cycle with the ocean breeze on your face.

DOING INTERVIEW IN PHUKET | The local TAT in phuket organized plenty of media to come out and talk to us when we arrived, it was amazing to get to tell our story to others, my hope is that if only one person start riding because of seeing our story the trip would have been worth it.

MEETING PEOPLE FOR THE SECOND TIME | This young guy, we met in Chiang Mai. We had just completed our ride through Mae Hong Son and he was just about to enter it. Little did he know what he was in for. The amazing thing for us was three months later he came to our final day ride and rode with us.

HASE PINO TOUR IN SUKOTHAI | We had time on our trip to enjoy the historical ruins, I think this one was in Sukothai, the large historical park there is great for cycling around especially first thing when it opens and there are no other tourists around, so pretty.

SWAPPING POSITIONS | For 8,760 kms Paul was in the back and me in the front, on the last day we took a moment to trade places, Im glad we do it earlier I might not have gotten my seat back as Paul seemed to like it a lot.

    | 8,760 . HASE PINO TOUR

A crazy looking bicycle for two crazy people, very stable bicycle with the pannier bags hanging very low giving a good riding feeling for a bicycle that is 50% longer than usual. Take a little getting used in to front, but once you do your ass will thank you.

KEEN SANDLESWeve been using these for about 5 years, they are awesome, touring clip in shoes for the warmer climates. Doesnt matter if they get wet as they dry in no time and let your feet breath. Never have to put on soggy shoes again.

ORTLIEB PANNIERSBest panniers for the crazy rain, you can ride even if you cannot see were you are going, weve had this set for nearly 5 years and still as solid as the day we purchased them. Waterproof, in fact so much Ive heard other tourers use one full of dirty clothes, washing power and water to was their clothes as they cycle.

EARPLUGSDont leave home without them, you just dont know what strange loud noise will come from the other room, or the main road outside a stones throw from your bed. This can be the single biggest investment for a good night sleep.

GARMIN 60CSXGood solid GPS for touring, would not leave home without one, they make taking the back-roads so much better and almost risk free, you can get off the freeway and side hidden lane-ways for a much more

    enjoyable cycling experience.

    GPS

MUSIC MAKEROn those hot afternoons when you need something to distract you and get your legs pumping to your destination, a little rechargeable speaker like this and SD card with a thousand sounds can give the pep up you need. PLUS it makes it easy for motorcycles and pedestrians to hear you coming, theyre great.

    SD

WATER BOTTLE POLARThese bottle are great, never used a insulated bottle before, they dont keep it chilled but they do slow down the heating process and keep the drink cool for a much longer time. Would fully recommend.

CRANK BORTTHER MALLETSThis are good because you can ride with normal shoes and not just clips, so if you just going out for 5km ride, you dont have to put your special shoes on, you can just use your sandals or flip flops. Makes sense to me!
