1. The Old Testament has 17 Historical, 5 Poetical, and 17 Prophetic books in it.
T he 17 Historical Books are: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth,
1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther.
T he 5 Poetical Books are: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon,
T he 17 Prophetic Books are: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos,
Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.
2. The New Testament has 4 Gospels, Acts, 21 Epistles, and Revelation in it.
T he 4 Gospels are: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,

1388.

7. The Bible was divided into chapters by Stephen Langton in 1228. The Old Testament was divided into verses
by R. Nathan in 1488 and the New Testament by Robert Stephanus in 1551.
8. The entire Bible divided into chapters and verses first appeared in the Geneva Bible of 1560.
