remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore

SARDI s
He was a catholic priest who taught Philosophy and theology at the university in Prague.
Huss was lead to Christ by the “Lollards” and then came under the writings of Wycliffe
He grew more and more vocal in his attacks on abuses by the Pope, and openly questioned the Catholic doctrine of the Mass.
![Page 28: Biblical Church History](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022070504/568166b0550346895ddaabd0/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
SARDI s
After his born again experience, he began to preach to his people in their own language (not Latin), and hundreds began to get saved.
He preached against the Friars and their “pardons for money”
He preached against:•Purgatory•Worship of saints• Worship in Latin
![Page 29: Biblical Church History](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022070504/568166b0550346895ddaabd0/html5/thumbnails/29.jpg)
SARDI s
He began to exalt the scriptures above the traditions and ordinances on the RCC.
He Sated about the Pope “He is not the successor of Peter, but the successor of Judas”
In 1410 he was removed from the RCC

On Dec. 4, 1414, the pope had entrusted a committee of three bishops with a preliminary investigation against Hus
July 6, 1415 An Italian prelate pronounced the sentence of condemnation upon Hus and his writings

SARDI s
The executioners undressed Hus and tied his hands behind his back with ropes, and his neck with a chain to a stake around which wood and straw had been piled up so that it covered him to the neck. Still at the last moment, the imperial marshal, Von Pappenheim, in the presence of the Count Palatine, asked him to save his life by a recantation, but Hus declined
There upon the fire was kindled with John Wycliffe’s own manuscripts used as kindling for the fire

C. Girolamo Savonarola
Italy 1452-1498
![Page 33: Biblical Church History](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022070504/568166b0550346895ddaabd0/html5/thumbnails/33.jpg)
SARDI s
Savonarola was a Florentine Dominican monk who was horrified by the scandalous conduct of Pope Borgia and his many bastard children.
He was the forerunner of Martin Luther, but unlike Martin Luther, the only "bible" available to him was the corrupt Latin Vulgate Version of Jerome.
His reformation was more moral than doctrinal.
![Page 34: Biblical Church History](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022070504/568166b0550346895ddaabd0/html5/thumbnails/34.jpg)
SARDI s
He was a spellbinder and great crowds flocked to hear his sermons.
All Florence thronged to hear him, so that from his sermons in the cathedral he acquired a constantly growing influence over the people.
He denounced in no uncertain terms Pope Borgia, Lorenzo de Medici, and the corrupt lives of the Florentines
![Page 35: Biblical Church History](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022070504/568166b0550346895ddaabd0/html5/thumbnails/35.jpg)
SARDI s
The great crusading Reformer Savonarola preached about Apostle Paul preaching the Gospel at Ephesus, the people came and burned the accursed images and books of Diana of the Ephesians: Savonarola encourages the people of Florence to do the same and thousands of pagan books, filthy pictures, lewd literature, were destroyed. It was called the BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES!!
![Page 36: Biblical Church History](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022070504/568166b0550346895ddaabd0/html5/thumbnails/36.jpg)
SARDI s
Under his anointing preaching, all the dens of vice (prostitution) closed as did the theater with their lewd plays and shows.
Borgia tried to "buy" Savonarola by making him a Cardinal.
This was what was called the “offering of the red hat”, because cardinals wore red hats
![Page 37: Biblical Church History](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022070504/568166b0550346895ddaabd0/html5/thumbnails/37.jpg)
SARDI s
Savonarola refused to be bribed so the Pope used other tactics. He got the Franciscan monks to speak out against Savonarola and then excommunicated and arrested him.
He was tortured and put to death by burning.
Savonarola refused to renounce his beliefs unto death.
![Page 38: Biblical Church History](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022070504/568166b0550346895ddaabd0/html5/thumbnails/38.jpg)
SARDI s
This GREAT Reformer was only 46 years old when he was strangled and burned. many believe had he lived . . . Florence . . . and not Wittenberg . . . would have been the birthplace of the Glorious Reformation!!
![Page 39: Biblical Church History](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022070504/568166b0550346895ddaabd0/html5/thumbnails/39.jpg)

SARDI s
As he worked as a monk Martin Luther felt empty and unable to get peace from the darkness of not being spiritually born again.
He would crawl on the steeps of the Church until his knees would bleed.
He would whip and beat himself, to try to bring his self under subjection He never found peace with God through the traditions and ordnances of the RCC

October 31, 1517, Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church. A simple call for debate became the spark that ignited the Reformation
All tough He left the RCC, when he left he brought some seeds of False doctrine and traditions This is why if you look at the Lutheran Church today there is a lot of similarities with the RCC

King Henry VIII wanted a divorce, and the Pope would not grant him one, having already granted him an annulment from his previous wife. The bishops in England had been wanting reforms for some time, which they had not been able to persuade either the Pope or the king to pass; Henry VIII had in fact been granted the title Defender of the Faith, for supporting the Catholic Church against Protestant reformers. When circumstances changed, the king got the divorce he wanted, and the bishops the reforms they wanted, in establishing the Church of England.

'what do we have to do to come
