time?”

Gideon asked.

From this Gideon knew that

that God wanted him to save

Israel.

So Gideon gathered his army

to fight the Midianites.

God wanted the people to

know they won the battle

because of Him, so

He told Gideon to send home all

that were afraid.

There were still too many

people, so

God told Gideon to take

them to the water.

Those that lapped the water

to drink were sent home.

Those that cupped their hands

to drink were to go to fight.

Gideon was left with 300 men.

Gideon divided the men into

three groups.

He gave everyone a trumpet,

empty pitcher with a torch inside.

Gideon told the men to do

what he did.

When the men reached the

Midianite camp that night,

Gideon and his men blew their

trumpets and broke their pitchers.

The Midianites woke up and cried

out.

Some of them killed each other

before they fled.

God helped Gideon win against

the Midianites.

Zacchaeus was a tax collector.

He heard that Jesus was in Jericho.

He couldn’t see Jesus over the crowd.

He climbed up a sycamore tree.

Zacchaeus’ house.

This made the crowd grumble, as

they didn’t think Jesus should visit

Zacchaeus repented and restored

four times more than he stole

and gave away half of his goods.

This shows us that

anything is possible with God.

One day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee.

Jesus and his mother attended the wedding.

Jesus Turns Water to Wine

Jesus’ mother told the servants to listen to Jesus and do whatever he asked them to

do.

During the celebrations, the wine ran out. Jesus’ mother came to him and asked him

if he could help.

Jesus to the servants to fill the water pots with water. Then he asked them to take out the water and give it to the master.

When the master had tasted the water, he called the bridegroom,

The master asked the bridegroom why he had left the best wine until last as normally the best wine is served first.

This is the first miracle Jesus did. He went on to do many more wonderful things.

Daniel and his friends were captured by the king of Babylon. They loved the Lord and not idols like the people of Babylon.

Daniel and the Lions Den

After 10 days of eating vegetables and water, Daniel and his friends

appeared healthier than those that did eat the king’s food.

Daniel and his friends refused to eat the king’s food that was given to them

as it had been offered to idols.

When Nebuchadnezzar had some dreams, he asked his magicians, astrologers, sorcerers and the

Chaldeans to tell him the meaning of them, but no one could.

God continued to look after Daniel and his friends. He even gave Daniel the ability to understand dreams and

visions.

When Nebuchadnezzar died, his son, Belshazzar became king. While having a feast, a hand appeared and starting

writing on the wall.

God helped Daniel interpret the dreams. After explaining the dream to the king, Daniel was promoted to ruler

over Babylon and his friends were given high positions as well.

That night Belshazzar died and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom.

Again, no one could read the writing. With the help of God, Daniel

interpreted the writing and he was made third ruler of the kingdom.

They tried to find something that Daniel did wrong, but they couldn’t.

Darius set three governors over the kingdom, one which was Daniel. Daniel was a good governor, which made

the other leaders very jealous.

This law was that during the next 30 days, everyone should pray to the king. If they didn’t, they would be thrown

into the den of lions.

They went to the king and asked him to put in place a new law.

The jealous leaders knew Daniel would disobey this law. When they saw Daniel disobeying it, they went

quickly to inform the king.

Daniel knew this law was wrong. He continued to obey God by praying

three times a day.

A stone was placed over the opening of the den.

This king was very sad that he had made this law, but he had to obey his word. Daniel was thrown into the pit

of lions.

“God sent an angel to shut the mouths of the lions so they wouldn’t hurt me,”

Daniel replied.

As soon as the sun the next morning, the king ran to the den of lions. He yelled to Daniel to see if God had

taken care of him.

Darius and all his people began praising and obey the God of Daniel ~ the one

true God.

Daniel was immediately released from the den.

David, the youngest son of Jesse the Bethlehemite looked after his father’s

sheep.

David and Goliath

While waiting to become king, David kept helping his father with the sheep.

The Lord sent Samuel to anoint David, who would become the king of Israel

when the time was right.

Jesse asked David to take some food to his brothers in the army and see how

they were going.

One day, the Philistines came to fight against Israel. David was looking after the sheep while his older brothers went to the

battle.

Goliath was very big. He had come down into the valley in the morning and evening every day for forty days, yelling at the

Israel army.

When David arrived at the battle, the Israel army were on one mountain and the Philistine army were on another mountain. In the middle there was a giant named

Goliath.

The soldiers in the Israelite army were to scared to go and fight Goliath.

“Why won’t you send a man to fight me? If he kills me, the Philistines will be your

servants, but if I kill him, then you shall be our servants,” yelled Goliath.

“Why won’t you send a man to fight me?

When he told Saul of his plans, Saul offered him his armour, but it was too big

and heavy for David.

David decided that he would go and fight Goliath since no one else would. He knew that God would be with him and help him.

When Goliath saw David coming, he laughed. David was a young boy, very

small compared to Goliath.

Instead, David collected five smooth stones from a stream that he could use in his sling

shot.

David took one of the stones and loaded it into his sling shot.

“I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel whom

you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand and I will take off your

head,” David replied.

With a thud, Goliath fell to the ground. David took the giant’s sword and cut off

Goliath’s head.

David slung the stone, striking Goliath in his forehead.

David trusted in the Lord, who helped him succeed that day.

When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.

Naomi was married to Elimelech. They had two sons, Mahlon and Chilion. The

moved to Moab as there was no food in Judah.

Many years later, both Mahlon and Chiliondied. Naomi decided it was time to move

back to the land of Judah.

While in Moab, Elimelech died. Both Mahlonand Chilion married Moabite women; Orpah and Ruth were their names.

So, both Naomi and Ruth went to live in Bethlehem in Judah, arriving at the beginning of barley gathering time.

Naomi told Orpah and Ruth to go back to their families, but Ruth would not go. She

wanted to stay with Naomi.

One day, Boaz saw Ruth in the field and went to speak to Ruth.

Ruth went to the field to gather grain for them to eat. This field belonged to Boaz,

a very rich man of the family of Elimelech.

Ruth stayed gathering grain for her and Naomi to eat until the end of the

gathering time came.

“I have heard all that you have done for your mother-in-law. Stay collecting grain for my field and I will look after you. May the Lord reward you for your work,” Boaz told Ruth.

This son, Obed, become the father of Jesse, who was the father of David, the

king of Israel.

Boaz then married Ruth and together they had a son named Obed.
