Proverbs on Haughtiness and Humility (2nd)

The fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor. (15:33)Before his downfall a mans heart is proud, but humility comes before honor. (18:12)

A mans pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor. (29:23)

Just as a reverence, love, awe, and respect for a holy God leads us into personal knowledof Him, so that same humble spirit leads us to receiving the honor that only God can bestow

The principle in all three of these proverbs is that humility is a prerequisite for honor Humble yourself before the Lord and He will lift your up (James 4:10)

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly in spirit aamong the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. (16:18-19)

The proud of heart arrogantly assumes he controls the future, yet those who have thumility that comes from wisdom (James 3:13) understand only God has ultimate control

To those who think they are in charge, James says: You dont know what will happtomorrow! What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a while then vanishes (4:14)

The arrogant will boast and brag (James 4:16), yet the wise man is reliant upon Goaffirmation rather than mans (Acts 5:29, Galatians 1:10, I Thessalonians 2:4)
