CDE PROGRAM REPORT

A National level CDE programme was conducted by department of orthodontics

and dentofacial orthopedics in conjunction with Journal of Indian Orthodontic

Society and Indian Orthodontic Society on 22nd

and 23rd

December 2017 .

Symposium was inaugurated by our vice Chancellor, Ho. Dr. Manikrao Salunke,

guest of honour Dr. Keki Mistry and Principal Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar.

There were research oriented lectures on first day which was open for all PG’s and

faculty members and second day was only for post graduates and orthodontists as

all lectures were related to the topic.

There were total 121 registrations of delegates including Post Graduate students

who reported from 30 different colleges.

11 speakers were invited to talk on research oriented topics and Orthodontics.

Dept. Of Oral Medicine & Dental Radiology organized a CDE programme on LASERS on 7th

March,2018 & received huge response from ours as well as from other Dental Institutes.

There were motivating lectures by our eminent speaker DR. VIKRAM KHARE followed by a

LIVE DEMONSTRATION and HANDS ON for the use of soft tissue LASERS by the

participants.

Dept. of Oral Pathology & Microbiology has organized a full day CDE program

on Clinical Photography: Current concepts, techniques and Guidelines on

Monday 25/09/2017 . Guest speakers were Dr. Ashok Karad & Dr. K. M.

Keluskar. 78 Participants attended the lectures & 35 attended the workshop.

Inauguration of the programme was done by Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar.

Department of Pediatric Dentistry

CDE Programme

Department of Pediatric Dentistry, BVDU Dental College & Hospital, Pune organized

research based symposium ‘IGNITE’, which received a huge response gathering around 120

registrations. There were motivating lectures by eminent representatives of NCL, AIIMS &

3M Division followed by brain-storming question and answer sessions. Invited guest

speakers were Dr. Magesh (Senior scientist, NCL, Pune), D. B.L.V. Prasad(Senior scientist,

NCL, Pune), Dr. Vijay Mathur (Professor, AIIMS. Delhi) & Senior Research Officer (3M

Division).

Preconference course on "CBCT-GREY & WHITE SHADOWS OF MODERN DENTISTRY" at 56th MSDC , was conducted by Dr. Darshan Hiremath & team from Oral Medicine & Radiology Dept., BVDU Dental College & Hospital, Pune for close to 30 participants from all over Maharashtra. 56th MSDC was hosted by IDA Pimpari -Chinchwad branch on 8th, 9th, & 10 Dec.2017.

Dept. of Basic Medical Sciences had organized a half day symposium on “Current

Needs in Health Care” on 6th October,2017 from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm. Total 115

DEPT. OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY

DEPT. OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY under the guidance of Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar

and Dr. Rajshekhar Halli , organized a one day hands on workshop on BASIC LIFE SUPPORT, FIRST

AID AND MEDICAL EMERGENCIES IN DENTAL PRACTICE on 24th February, 2018, for the

nursing staff and ancillaries.

The programme was of great success and was attended by all the nursing staff. The session also provided

with firsthand knowledge about life support, CPR in mannequins and management of emergencies.

& Hospital, Pune, on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 9.30 am to 5.30pm

REPORT OF CDE PROGRAMME

Department of Periodontology conducted a CDE Programme on 30th January 2018. The topic of CDE was ‘Advances in Implant Dentistry’. Guest speakers for the programme were Dr. Sanjay Jain and Dr. Ritika Arora.

Details of the scientific session:

1) Dr. Sanjay Jain: Real Time Dynamic Navigation- The Future of Implant Dentistry (Lecture and Video Demonstration)

2) Dr. Ritika Arora: Innovations in Dentistry with smart Blood Derivatives- PRF Applications In Implantology, Periondontology and Skin Rejuvenation (Lecture and Live Demonstration on iPRF, aPRF membrane and sticky bone)

The programme was a huge success with 102 participants including heads and staff of other colleges in Maharashtra who attended the programme.

The programme was conducted in the auditorium, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology and Biotechnology, Pune. The programme started with inauguration by lighting the lamp at the hands of Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar (Principal, BVDU dental College, Pune), Dr. Amita Mali (HOD, Department Of Periodontology) and Dr. Sanjay Jain. Dr. Sanjay Jain was felicitated by Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar. Dr. Ritika Arora was felicitated by Dr. Amita Mali, Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar was then felicitated by Dr. Amita Mali and Dr. Amita Mali was felicitated by Dr. Vishakha Patil. This was followed by the welcome address by Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar and Dr. Amita Mali.

The inauguration was followed by the lecture and video demonstration by Dr. Sanjay Jain. His topic covered a new technology where satellite guided navigation system is used to assist the placement of dental implants with greater precision and accuracy. He also showed the video demonstration of how an implant placement surgery is done with the assistance of satellite guided navigation system.

Lunch followed this technology studded presentation by Dr. Jain.

The afternoon session consisted of the lecture and demonstration by Ritika Arora. Her lecture covered the use of growth factors in the regeneration of bone and other connective tissues with the help of subjects own blood. She also demonstrated how to use the blood effectively to derive the growth factors so as to provide maximum benefits in the tissue regeneration.

The CDE programme was largely appreciated by all the delegates who consisted of many stalwarts in the field of Periodontology.
