Gita. 3 Sections

• Chapter 1-6 Describing Soul, Karma, Jnana, and Dhyana Yoga.

• Chapter 7-12Cream – describing Bhakti Yoga, Knowledge of Supreme and His opulence, most confidential knowledge, and also Universal form.

• Chapter 13-18Knowledge of three modes, divine and demoniac nature, division of faith, and ultimate conclusion – the perfection of renunciation.

• “Sañjaya said: O King, after looking over the army arranged in military formation by the sons of Pāndu, King Duryodhana went to his teacher and spoke the following words.”

• Sanjaya – also a great devotee

• He understood Dhrtarashtra’s mind.

• Thus starts telling the situation on battlefield which will give him pleasure.

• Text 3-6 – Dhuryodhana informing about the strength of pandavas.

• Text 7-11 – informing about his own army generals and comparing both the armies.

Text 3,4,5 & 6• paśyaitām pāndu-putrānām

ācārya mahatīm camūmvyūdhām drupada-putrena tava śisyena dhīmatā

• “O my teacher, behold the great army of the sons of Pāndu, so expertly arranged by your intelligent disciple the son of Drupada.”

• Dhuryodhana perfect diplomat – using appropriate words.

• Comparing the great generals in Pandava’s army with Bhima & Arjuna.

• Especially afraid of Bhima.

• Text 7-9 –Dhuryodhana describing the warriors in his army.

• All these warriors were prepared to lay down there lives.

• Dhuryodhan’s confidence in his military strength.

• Text 10 aparyāptam tad asmākambalam bhīsmābhiraksitamparyāptam tv idam etesāmbalam bhīmābhiraksitam“Our strength is immeasurable, and we are perfectly protected by Grandfather Bhīsma, whereas the strength of the Pāndavas, carefully protected by Bhīma, is limited.”
