I am thankful to announce an exciting new addition to Westbury Christian School! Through the acquisition of the Westland YMCA facility, we can now provide WCS students with a dedicated athletic complex, while also serving the Brays Oaks District and the Southwest Houston community.

Previously, Wildcat athletics has been without a home field, and thus without the ever important Home Field Advantage. I am truly grateful to be able to better serve our students and families, alumni, friends, and neighbors, as we embark on a new stage of growth within our school. Our approach to education aims to develop the whole child - Spiritually, Academically, and Socially. I am confident this complex will allow for more opportunities and strengthen not only our athletic programs, but all extra-curricular activities within each of the three dimensions. As the student body continues to grow, participation within our broad range of Student Activities has also seen a natural boost. For each program at WCS, we hope to offer the most effective setting, conducive to allowing our students the opportunity to reach their peak potential. Our current, landlocked location has hindered our ability to expand and adequately serve this need for expansion, until now.

The WCS Athletic Complex will provide the space necessary to accommodate all of our outdoor programs and offer even more options for spiritual enrichment and enhancement to our students

and the Southwest Houston community. The possibilities are endless as we begin to use this new facility for reaching out to our community and for engaging our students in service activities.

Providing intense training, in a disciplined and competitive environment, integrated with Christian values, and with instruction from Christian coaches, will result in the development of champions with humility, drive, and vision.

SpIRITuAl BenefIT/GRoWTH

The need for a Westbury Christian School Athletic Complex is tremendous.

Over 800 people participated in our 1st Charlie Ward Tribute to Excellence which allowed us to raise a majority of the funds we will need to purchase the YMCA on Fondren. Our 2nd Tribute to Excellence will raise money to complete the purchase of the facility and to fund construction of specific areas of this new complex.

Our goal is to close on the YMCA property in the fourth quarter of 2011 and to start phasing in the renovation beginning in 2012. This will include the demolition of a portion of the existing structures, preparation of the land for drainage and for the foundation of future fields, and the construction of new athletic facilities. The exact timeline to complete construction has not been defined, but we anticipate a grand opening ceremony to take place during the 2012-2013 school year.

Our timeline concludes with fully retiring the renovation debt by 2015.

Our students are taught to think outside of themselves and consider the needs of those around them. As we work to set a positive, Christian example, we are committed to utilizing the space in a way that benefits our community, while also serving the needs of our students.

This facility will give us a second presence in the community and increase the recognition of WCS. As the Brays Oaks District continues to bring renewal and new growth to our community, we see this project as a partnership in that revitalization.
