The job center staff will offer customized services to meet your specific needs. Assistance is available, free of charge, to anyone.

The job center opened in August 2014 as a program of the City of Charlottesville’s Office of Economic Development and as an initiative of the City Council to help residents achieve self-suffiency through workforce development opportunities.

Virginia Thompson Paste Paper WorkshopTuesday, July 26 at 6:30pmLike finger painting for grownups, paste paper involves creating brilliant, richly colored and textured designs with non-toxic paste pigments on paper using hands, simple tools and found objects. Students complete 3 large sheets that can be used to cover books, wrap gifts, make notecards, wall art and more. For ages 13-adult.Required registration begins July 12.

Cupcake Decorating ChallengeWednesday, July 27 at 2pmThe library will provide cupcakes and a variety of supplies for garnishing and decorating them. You provide the creativity for an edible masterpiece. Grades 6-12. Registration is required and begins July 11. Space is limited.

Chess SaturdaySaturday, July 16 at 2-4pmIf you’re a chess player or want to learn, stop by the Central Library for some instruction and simultaneous play hosted by the Playing ACES Chess Club.
