BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS

Matthew 7:15-17

Verse 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheeps

clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Verse 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of

thorns, or figs of thistles?

Verse 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt

tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

TM 110 While warning men to beware of accepting anything unless it

is truth, we should also warn them not to imperil their souls by rejecting

messages of light, but to press out of the darkness by earnest study of theword of God. (TM 110)

2 TG 24:22 There is but one thing that her people have been taught tolook for, and that is to look out for false prophets, and as the people do not

realize that there can be no false where there is no true, can you not see their

inconsistency? And what terrible self-deception

- for a people to think themselves right when they are all wrong! --

Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 3, pg. 253. I say terrible, and I mean

terrible, because if they keep on imagining that they are rich and increased

with goods, in need of nothing, while they are destitute of everything, theywill certainly be spued out.

If they do awake to their poverty, it will be the greatest miracle since the

beginning of the world. I say it will be the greatest, because they feel no need

of Gods help through Inspiration, expect none, are prejudiced, suspicious,and fearful of everyone that disagrees with their preconceived idea. They are

therefore even harder to reach with the saving Truth for today than were the

Jews of yesterday. (2 TG 24:22)

EW 138 Again: We are forewarned that there would be false prophets in

the last days, and the Bible gives a test by which to try their teachings in orderthat we may distinguish between the true and the false. The grand test is the

law of God, which is applied both to the prophesyings and to the moral

character of the prophets. If there were to be no true prophesyings in the last

days, how much easier to have stated the fact, and thus cut off all chance for

deception, than to give a test by which to try them, as if there would be the

genuine as well as the false.

In Isaiah 8:19, 20, is a prophecy of the familiar spirits of the present time,

and the law is given as a test: To the law and to the testimony: if they speak

not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Why say,

If they speak not, if there was to be no true spiritual manifestation orprophesying at the same time? Jesus says, Beware of false prophets.... Ye

shall know them by their fruits. Matthew 7:15, 16. This is a part of the

Sermon on the Mount, and all can see that this discourse has a general

application to the church through the gospel age. False prophets are to be

known by their fruits; in other words, by their moral character. The onlystandard by which to determine whether their fruits are good or bad, is the

law of God. Thus we are brought to the law and to the testimony. True

prophets will not only speak according to this word, but they will liveaccording to it. One who speaks and lives thus, I dare not condemn. (EW

138)

WHO ARE THEY,THE FALSE PROPHETS?

2 TG 41:7, 8 This scripture, you see, reflects the tragedy which took

place on the top of Carmel in the days of Elijah. Here we are given the hint

that there is to be another show-down between the prophet of God and the

prophets of Baal. The prophets of Baal in our day even

- boast that they are not inspired, that what they teach and preach is what they

themselves discovered by deep study and research! They even sneer at those

who claim to be inspired of the Lord! They seem to think that God has

forsaken the earth; that He cares not to send His Spirit as in former time; thatmen are now so wise that what the Spirit can do for them, they themselves

can do even better! The truth is, though, that if there ever was a need for

inspired interpreters of the Scriptures, it is today while many winds of

doctrines are blowing from all directions, bringing in confusion, dissension,

and disaster everywhere. No one sees eye to eye! (2 TG 41:7, 8)

6 TR 71 Obvious it is that the opposition is engendered and nurtured by

self-appointed leaders who avowedly laying no claim to inspiration arethereby unwittingly crying out that the Lord has not sent them! Yet neither

they nor their adherents perceive either the irony or the folly of their position!

Hence sleeping preachers preaching to a sleeping people!--

Testimonies,Vol. 2, p. 337.

When they find themselves face to face with either the overflowing

scourge (Isa. 28:18) of the final visitation of the wrath of God (Rev. 15:1),

they will be stabbed with the tragedy of futile realization.

- That which now from a distance appears to them, mirage-like, an ocean of

grace, will then inescapably engulf them in abysmal ruin -- eternally! (6 TR

71)

Satans subversives have sought to sever the lines of communication

between the Spirit of Truth and the people of God. (WHR 54) Flood is the

same as water, which means people (in the church) unconverted, whom

Satan is using to cause the church to be carried away in a very quiet manner,so that no one would be suspicious of the great deception. (1 SR 151)

2 TG 24:24 Finally, what could be the Dragons flood that proceeds outof his mouth if not Dragon-prompted interpreters of the Scriptures through

whom he expects to cause the Church to be carried away?

Truly the self-appointed prophets in Israel of today are more in number

than were the prophets in Elijahs day. Here is a fact which only deaf and

blind persons would try to deny. No, I am not taking pleasure in unveiling this

Truth, I do it only because I must. God wants His people to have the Truth,

and so I have no alternative but to tell it. (2 TG 24:24)

- of uninspired men, plunged her into another, wherein she has been

floundering ever since. And unless we let the Truth extricate us from this fatal

bog of confusion, we cannot defeat the Enemy of Inspiration in his tirelessand powerful efforts to pervert the implements of our salvation into weapons

for our destruction. (1 Ans. 65)

This is an absolute fact. After V.T. Houteff died in Feb. 5, 1955, the DSDA

organization in which originally under the direction of Gods inspired servant,later, after the prophet died fall under the direction of uninspired men the

Dragons Flood. They are influential men, which Satan is using to cause

Gods people to be carried away in a very quiet manner, so that no one wouldbe suspicious of the great deception. In this way he attempts to deceive the

very elect (144,000) if it were possible. (1 SR 155)

History repeats of Itself. The prophets of Baal lead Gods people into the

greatest fallacy and folly of the day. (GCS 30, 31) The SROD declared

plainly There is but one thing that her people have been taught to look for,

and that is to look out for false prophets, and as the people do not realize that

there can be no false where there is no true, can you not see their

inconsistency? (2 TG 24:22) The prophets of Baal in our day even boastthat they were not inspired, that what they teach and preach

- is what they themselves discovered by deep study and research! They even

sneer at those who claim to be inspired of the Lord! (2 TG 41:7) They are

the self-appointed leaders who avowedly laying no claim to inspiration are

thereby unwittingly crying out that the Lord has not sent them! Yet neither

they nor their adherents perceive either the irony or the folly of their position!

(6 TR 71) But the time will come, that these sleeping multitudes in the

churches awake from their spiritual insensibility and find that the shepherds

whom they have implicitly trusted for their salvation had deceived all thosewho followed them. (1 SC 14:6)

These prophets and priests of Baal are very clever. Why? Because, thoughthey were the very ones who become involved in the practice of altering the

message of the ROD, talk the loudest about exercising great care not to be

enmeshed by false doctrine. And, to back up their talk, they very carefullykeep themselves aloof from everything new which does not come through

themselves. (5 TR 14)

The SROD made it so plain, that the very word Inspiration, in its

theological significance, means to communicate Divine interpretations free

from mens adulteration (private interpretation). (3 Ans. 29, 30)

2 SC 3, 4:11 it follows that the ultimate aim behind anyones

objection against inspired truths instead of against uninspired ones is to

put God out of sight and bring men to the front cutting off the only channel

by which God can communicate with His people and by which only He caninterpret the Scriptures for His church and interpose the erroneous claims of

men. (2 SC 3, 4:11)

2 TG 2:17 Let us not fool ourselves any longer. God cannot be mocked.

He will not for ever forsake His sheep, neither will He for ever retainuntrustworthy shepherds herding His sheep. He will soon discharge them, and

will demand that they give an account for their unfaithfulness. So it is that

what a multitude of shepherds have failed to do, one shepherd, even David,will, in Gods hands, get done. (2 TG 2:17)

Antitypical David is the simple means mentioned in TM 300. (8 TR 71)The voice of Inspiration declared clearly, that all these self-appointed

shepherds (uninspired men), God will discharge them, and will demand that

they give an account for their unfaithfulness. And since these self-appointed

false shepherds want to forever retain herding Gods sheep they try to

convince the people that there will be no more manifestation of Inspiration.

Because the Devil knoweth, that through the channel

- of Inspiration these Dragon prompted interpreters will be completely

unmask. Then they hypocritically lift up V.T. Houteff by telling the people

that V.T. Houteff is the last prophet. And by such declaration these prophetsof Baal have more fun of wresting the SROD, for V.T. Houteff could not

reprimand them while lying unconscious to his grave.

But God cannot be mocked. Let us not fool ourselves any longer. God will

not forever forsake His sheep. (2 TG 2:17) Accordingly, the antitypicalElijahs work, being in the spirit and power of typical Elijah, must therefore

be similar to typical Elijahs work-restoring Truth and righteousness, and

bringing judgment upon the false prophets and teachers in the antitypical daywhich in itself is the separating of the chaff from the wheat -- the work of the

Judgment for the Living. (GCS 31)

8 TR 61-62 Since, for Gods honor and for the prosperity of His people,

both Elijahs message and Davids reign took the lives of many (Elijahs

message, the lives of the apostate teachers in Israel -- 1 Kings 18:40; and

Davids reign, the lives of the heathen who defied God and His armies --1

Chronicles 22:6-8), therefore the work of Elijah particularly typifies the day

of slaughter in the church, and the reign of David, the

- destruction of the heathen and the possession of the earth (Zech. 12:8, 9; Jer.

30:3, 9). Whereupon Christ (the son of David) shall visibly appear, take unto

Himself His kingdom (Luke 19:15), and glorify it with everlasting peace (as

typified by the peaceful reign of Davids son, Solomon). And in the days ofthese antitypical events shall be completely realized the promise. (8 TR 61-62)

9 TR 43 As ancient David is in his grave, the king here promised must

be an antitypical David, just as the Elijah of Malachi 4:5 must be anantitypical Elijah. Otherwise, in order to fulfill the prophecies, ancient David

must necessarily rise from his grave, and ancient Elijah descend from

Heaven. (9 TR 43)

2 TG 41:7, 8 Moreover, Amos by the eye of Inspiration looked down

through the centuries, deep into the Christian era, and declared:

Amos 1:2 - The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter His voice from

Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of

Carmel shall wither.

This scripture, you see, reflects the tragedy which took place on the top ofCarmel in the days of Elijah.

that is found in prophecy, but our stay here shall be very, very short, for Hewill finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work

will the Lord make upon the earth. (Rom. 9:28.)

It might be interesting to Elder G. to know that the naming of our camp

Mt. Carmel Center came about in the same way as the naming of our

publications The Shepherds Rod, for we did not know before hand

- which cannot be applied to one shepherds habitation (denomination) but to

all that be in existence at that time.The term shepherds means, as

understood, the same as the ancient men which were before the house--

theministers. Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 211.Note that the

shepherds are not themselves to mourn but their habitations (their houses);

that is, the membership of their churches, which fact reveals that it will be

thus at the time when the sleeping multitudes in the churches awake from

their spiritual insensibility and find that the shepherds whom they haveimplicitly trusted for their salvation had deceived all those who followed

them.

The prophet Jeremiah in the following words explains that this wailing by

those who are thus deceived will be at the close of probation.For they shall

say the harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. (Jer.8:20.)That is, after the harvest, the time in which they could have been saved,

they will realize that probationary time has closed.Then the habitations of

the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.Hence, before

that time the top of Carmel must have been green with much pasture,

otherwise there would be nothing to wither; that is, though Carmel has now

plenty of pasture (present truth), when probation closes it shall be deserted

- (wither), for says the Spirit of Prophecy: In the time of trouble we all

fled from the cities and villages.-- Early Writings, p. 34.

Thus shall the top of Carmel wither, and those who do not take heed to the

word, To day if ye will hear His voice, harden not your heart, at length will

be alarmed that their opportunity for accepting the truth has slipped

away.Then in their hasty, frenzied effort to acquaint themselves with present

truth which went forth from the top of Carmel, to their surprise they shall findthat Carmel has finished its work, its inhabitants removed, and probation

closed, at which time the inhabitants of Carmel can but repeat, the harvest

is past, the summer is ended, and we have nothing for thee.

Then it shall come to pass that They shall wander from sea to sea, and

from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word ofthe Lord, and shall not find it.In that day shall the fair virgins and young men

faint for thirst.Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a

famine in the land, not famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing

the words of the Lord.(Amos 8:12, 13, 11.)Oh, what a disappointment that

will be! (1 SC 14:5, 6)

The only positive proof of Gods true Movement, must have a typical

representation. As there is no type for that Movement which is false. (2 SR

255) Each Movement (which is of God) rises in fulfillment of time

prophecy The fact that Israel after the flesh is a type (photograph), theirexperience must be duplicated in the true, otherwise there can be no type. (1

Truly God has graciously given us Truth that no others have. Inspiration

declared:EW 124 The different parties of professed Advent believers have each

a little truth, but God has given all these truths to His children who are beingprepared for the day of God. He has also given them truths that none of these

parties know, neither will they understand. Things which are sealed up to

them, the Lord has opened to those who will see and are ready to understand.

If God has any new light to communicate, He will let His chosen and beloved
