Issue 3 : Preseason Eagles vs. Patriots

Let’s flash back five years ago to August 13, 2004 when the Eagles opened up their season against the New England Patriots, that same season they went on to play the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Now come back to reality, it’s August 13, 2009 and the Eagles are opening up their season once again against the New England Patriots. Could history repeat itself? We have a brand new team, same great coach, a stronger desire to win, and ONE goal in mind………

The Philadelphia Eagles will be looking to ride the momentum of their late year push and start out of the gates strong in 2009. They will be doing so with a revamped offensive line that is now one of the most physically imposingin the NFL with an average weight of over 330 pounds per starter. Eagles fans are one of the most hard core fan bases in the NFL, and they are looking for a productive season for the 2009 Philadelphia Eagles. For most fan bases, the sting of their team’s fourth conference championship defeat may have been tolerated by the fact that the 9-6-1 Eagles had made an improbable run to even get as far as they did. After evaluating all of the things that have occurred this offseason it is clear that the Eagles have taken steps forward after losing in the second-most-important game of 2008. But

now loaded with depth and talent, Jeff Lurie and his organization feel confident that this is "their year". The Eagles already had a great, young defense, and used most of their offseason acquiring pieces to the offensive puzzle. If all of the new players and veterans can work well together and adjust to the system, the Eagles will make a hard push through the playoffs.

The constant rumblings surrounding Donovan McNabb and his future in Philadelphia were quieted after the strong finish to the season. He should have a multitalented set of weapons to work with this season with the drafting of Jeremy Maclin and the return of DeSean Jackson. The team also provided McNabb with better protection, by acquiring two top level offensive tackles. If Brian Westbrook stays healthy the team could have one of the

best offenses in the league and could emerge as a serious threat in the postseason.

The 2009 Eagles look to build on a exciting playoff run in 2008 that

included knocking off the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants

As of today the Chrysler Jeep Gate and the Chrysler Jeep Corner names will change! The Chrysler Jeep Gate will now be the Comcast Gate and the Chrysler Jeep Corner will now be referred to as the Comcast Corner.

I know what you’re thinking, how about the Chrysler Premier Club and Suites? You guessed it; The Chrysler Premier Club and Suites will now be referred to as the West Club and Suites. Pretty boring, we know, but there may be a sponsorship down the road.

Please be aware of these name changes and implement them into your Guest interactions for the season!

The moment we have all been waiting for is finally here. After living without the exciting game of football for over six months, fans are more than ready to kick off the season! A new season means new gear as well. Here is a look at some of the top trends you can see this year.

Philadelphia Eagles retro apparel is this season’s hottest item. Men, women, and children alike now have the opportunity to wear clothing with classic Philadelphia Eagles graphics, logos, and fonts. These fitted tees, distressed sweatshirts, and vintage hats are just the thing for any Philadelphia fan. This new retro clothing allows fans to represent their favorite team in a traditional way.

Ever since the release of the men’s warrior tee, it has been flying off the shelves. People can’t get enough of this trendy new style. The shirt is so popular that we have decided to release an additional style for men as well as a women’s version of the warrior tee. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak- you’ll be sure to love it! It is expected to be available early this fall.

The Eagles Pro Shop continues to encourage fans to take part in the Philadelphia Eagles Go Green! campaign by introducing environmentally friendly merchandise. Whether it is a pair of socks recycled from bottles or bamboo, a recycled t-shirt, an organic tote, or a stainless steel BPA free water bottle- fans are sure to find a way to do their part and Go Green!

These items are just a preview of the new merchandise available for the 2009 season. Be sure to stop by the Pro Shop or visit philadelphiaeagles.com to check out our full selection.

Chrysler Jeep Gate is now the Comcast Gate

Chrysler Premier Club is now the West Club

Asante Samuel returns as the headliner in the secondary

for the Eagles this year. If he’s as effective in 2009 as he was last

season, the Eagles can feel confident that he is roaming the

secondary ranks. To add depth to an already talented secondary,

the Eagles acquired Ellis Hobbs from the New England Patriots to

compete for playing time in the defensive backfield. Hobbs is a

more than functional player in the secondary and should be an

asset to the team. This young defense broke out last year, ranking

4th in points allowed per game and 3rd in total yards allowed per

game. With players like DT Broderick Bunkley notching another

year of experience, this defense should continue to shut down

their opponents. They offer a good pass rush with quickness on

the end in DE Trent Cole and power up the middle in DT Mike

    Patterson.

This young Eagles team is determined to make a run into the

playoffs in 2009. Led by the veterans McNabb and Westbrook,

this team has the tools to take the division crown, though the

talented NFC East Division will make it a difficult task.

The new Eagles warrior tee has been a hot commodity amongst

    Eagles fans

The organic tote bag gives Eagles fans the

opportunity to Go Green while supporting their

favorite football team at the same time

    A world champion outing B y : R a c h e l v i t a g l i a n o

On Friday, July 24th over 260 Game Day Staffers came out to support our neighbors, the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies for the 4th annual Game Day Staff Night at the Phillies and a great time was had by all. Significant others, family members, new arrivals and old friends all came together to beat the heat and catch a few innings of baseball.

The play on the diamond wasn’t spectacular, unless you are a fan of Rick Ankiel of the Cardinals who went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs! However, despite a Phils 7-1 loss, the night was a success. From tailgating in Lot L to packing the stands with game day staffers galore, you couldn’t ask for much more. The 300 level of Citizens Bank Park was having a great time. NO QUESTIONS ASKED, Shane Victorino would have been proud.

Although we’re all business on game days, we clearly like to have our fun as well. How do you get involved in Game Day Staff Outings? Here’s a quick step-by-step list.

    (1) Keep a close watch on your email for special event announcements

    (2) Make sure to sign up early and often!

    (3) Invite your other Game Day Staff friends. It’s like they always say…2 is company, 3 is a crowd, 4 or more is a Game Day Staff PARTY!

If you want view photos of this fun-filled night and other LFF events, be sure to visit http://community.webshots.com/user/lffgamedaystaff. Also, if you have any suggestions for Game Day Staff Outings You’d like to see, shoot us an email to [email protected].

    New security search layout at Lincoln financial field B y : s a r a p e t e r s

Starting with tonight’s game against the New England Patriots, there will be a new security search layout at Lincoln Financial Field. Signs will designate each security search line as: Male, Female, or Family. Family lines are for groups that prefer to stay together through the security process. The new layout will be at the following entrances: Comcast, Pepsi, West and South Gates, SCA Club & Suite Entry and West Club & Suite Entry.

This layout has been designed to improve the flow through security and ensure Guests get into Lincoln Financial Field in a timely manner. This security search layout will be used at every event going forward.

If Guests have any questions or comments about the change in procedure, direct them to a Guest Services Booth to fill out a Guest Comment form or provide them with the Guest Services Hotline number: 267-570-4400.

Even though the Phillies lost, the Phanatic still found

    ways to entertain fans

Can you see the rainbow in the background?

Betty Sheppard traded in her red Event Staff shirt for a red

    Phillies shirt

    Sara, Lindsey, & Ryan

After a little bit of rain it was time to play ball!

The new gender specific search signs that will now be at each gate will get Guests into the stadium in a more efficient manner

Thanks to each and all of you that helped to make Eagles Flight Night! a success. We surpassed our attendance goals, both in numbers and in drawing a diversity of families. We reached our fund raising goal, breaking through the $1 million target in our inaugural year. That’s a lot of eyeglasses, books and playgrounds. Together we created an amazing event for our fans that built on the strengths of our football team, Eagles staff and LFF. Thank you!
