Domestic demand for steel is

forecast to reach 56.6 million

tons in 2015, a 1.5% year-on-

year expansion, while automobile

demand is projected to grow to

1.66 million units, a 1.7% on-

year increase.

The report showed shipbuilding

construction edging up 0.9% to

1.11 million CGT, while general

machinery production is

expected to expand 2.7% year-

on-year.

Amid the relatively mild growth

in domestic demand in 2015,

Korea's overall facil it ies

investment is expected to

increase 5.5%, compared with a

5.3% on-year growth in 2014,

according to the KIET forecast.

Despite the small increases in

domestic demand and

investment, profit levels at Korean

enterprises are not expected to

improve due to tougher

competition in the respective

markets, KIET noted.

Korea's major manufacturing industries are expected to post mild growth in 2015 compared with the previousyear. According to Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade (KIET) report, the majority of Koreanmanufacturing industries, except for petrochemicals, will rebound slightly in 2015.

The number of exhibitors atSIMTOS2014 reached 853,compared with 763 at SIMTOS2012.Over a ten-year period, the numberof participating exhibitors has nearlytripled, with comparable figures at328 in 2004, 404 in 2006, 433 in2008 and 459 in 2010.

A total of 5,409 overseas buyers,including 361 strategically invitedbuyers, visited SIMTOS2014 forpurposes related to buying.Comparable figures in previousevents were 4,591 in 2012, 2,856 in2010 and 2,645 in 2008.

The number of booths reached 5,513in SIMTOS2014, compared with5,274 in the preceding show.Meanwhile, the number ofparticipating countries reached 33compared with 24 in 2008.

General machinery accounted for21% of all visitors at SIMTOS2014.Automobile / parts industries tooksecond place with 15%, followed bymetal product manufacturing 13%,precision machinery manufacturing11%, steel / nonferrous metals 9%,electrical / electronics / IT 8%,shipbuilding / aerospace / othertransport 5% and others 18%.

CEOs and members of boards ofdirectors accounted for 20.5% ofregistered domestic buyers. Researchinstitutes topped the list of domesticbuyers by business type at 25.5%,reflecting the technologicalorientation of Korean buyers.

The number of overseas exhibitorbooths stood at 2,892.8, 51.2% ofthe total, exceeding those ofdomestic exhibitors for the first timein the 30-year history of SIMTOS.Domestic companies' combinedbooth number reached 2,620.2booths, accounting for 48.8% of thetotal.

2. Payment of Participation Fee- The confirmation date of participation in SIMTOS2016 will be the date when deposit (20%) andintermediate payment are made.
