Elementary Students Raise Almost $5,000 For

Autism

All five Bethel Park Elementary Schools raised money during World Autism Month in April with $4,934 donated to the Autism Center of Pittsburgh and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh.

The money was raised through coin drives and the creation of this beautiful bulletin board at William Penn, where $1 donations enabled the donor to put his/her name on a paper flower petal that was then affixed to the bulletin board, creating this reminder for Autism awareness.

Franklin Students Support Community Garden

For the fifth consecutive year, Franklin students are helping the Samuel and Anna Mae Richardson Bethel Park Community Garden get off to a great start by planting vegetable seeds and tending to them until they are large enough for the students to take them to the Community Garden and plant them in the ground on the last day of school. This year the students planted their seeds in hydroponic pots so they can also see the roots develop.

The students were assisted by Bethel Park High School STAND (Standing Together Against Negativity and Discrimination) students.
