Our Blessings

We pray for blessings, we pray for peace

Comfort for family, protection while we sleep

We pray for healing, for prosperity

We pray for Your mighty hand

to ease our suffering

All the while You hear each spoken need

Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if Your blessings

come through raindrops

What if Your healing comes through tears?

What if a thousand sleepless nights

Are what it takes to know You're near?

What if trials of this life

Are Your mercies in disguise?

We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear

We cry in anger

when we cannot feel You near

We doubt Your goodness,

we doubt Your love

As if every promise from

Your Word is not enough

And all the while You hear

each desperate plea

And long that we'd have faith to believe

'Cause what if Your blessings

come through raindrops

What if Your healing comes through tears?

And what if a thousand sleepless nights

Are what it takes to know You're near?

And what if trials of this life

Are Your mercies in disguise?

When friends betray us,

when darkness seems to win

We know that pain reminds this heart

That this is not, this is not our home

It's not our home

'Cause what if Your blessings

come through raindrops

What if Your healing

comes through tears?

And what if a thousand sleepless nights

Are what it takes to know You're near?

What if my greatest disappointments

Or the aching of this life

Is the revealing of a greater thirst

This world can't satisfy?

And what if trials of this life

The rain, the storms, the hardest nights

Are Your mercies in disguise?

In the past month we as a church

family, as members of this commu-

nity, have experienced great loss

and tragic news. I am sure there

have been times that we all have

asked “why?”, “how could this be?”

The words to the “Blessings” song

might give us some insight, what if

our blessings do come through rain-

drops? What if our healing does

come through tears? What if we

lived like we believed, that God is

sovereign and is in control, not man.

And while we will never fully under-

stand we can have the reassurance

that He is a God of grace and

mercy. Have we forgotten the bless-

ings that we have received, how

about all the prayers that have been

answered? Tumors completely

gone, ventilators removed, cancer

destroyed before chemo and radia-

tion treatments. And each of us

could go on and on…...

As we enter this time of Advent, a

season of hope and the promise of

Our Savior, my prayer for all of us is

that we take a moment to sit and

reflect on the blessings bestowed

and on the prayers answered. Let’s

take time to count our blessings and

share the wonderment and exciting

news of Our Lord and Savior Jesus

Christ!

On a personal note, how grateful I

am for the love and support that

Cathy and I have received since

coming to Bethel. Your prayers are

felt and God continues to be gra-

cious.

Blessings on all of You!

FROM THE CHOIR LOFT

Hello Bethel Baptist Church!

First, I’d like to thank you all so very much for welcoming me into your Church family. In

just a few short weeks, I already feel as though I’ve been apart of Bethel for a long time.

December is always a very busy time, especially for music ministry! The Bethel Choir will

be presenting their Christmas Cantata, How Great Our Joy, on December 16th, and you

won’t want to miss that!

Also, I’ve got a question for you. Do you sing in the shower? The car? There is still plenty

of room in the choir loft! NO prior experience necessary! The Bethel Adult Choir welcomes

singers of all skill levels. If you’re interested in joining the choir or if you’d like to join the

music team in another capacity, (do you play piano? Guitar? Drums?) please contact me!

Our goal is to always “make a joyful noise”, and with your help, we’ll really get those raf-

ters ringing! Let’s use the talents that God has given us to praise His name together!

Your sister in Christ,

Allyson Dodson

Director of Music
