Bethany Meilani Hamilton was born on February 8, 1990 in Kauai, Hawaii. She is a Hawaiian surfer , especially known as surviving a shark attack in which she lost her left arm with 13 year old. Finally when she recovered she return to surfing and she win a lot of competitions.

Who is she?

On October 31, 2003 , Bethany was surfing in the morning on a beach in Kauai with her friends. Around 7:50 am , approximately she was 300 meters from shore and lying on his table with her left arm under water, when a shark attacked her. Bleeding heavily , her friends helped her back to the shore. She lost the 60% of her blood

How the accident happened ?

Even with the fear of the incident , Bethany was determined to return to surfing. Only 10 weeks after the accident , she returned to surfing. She made a special board, making her easier to swimming and surfing. After learning to swim with one arm, she began surfing again in competitions .

Soul Surfer

In 2004, Bethany wrote the story of her accident. She called her story Soul surfer: a true story of faith, familly , and fighting to get back on the board. (Alma de surfista: Una verdadera historia de fe, familia y lucha para regresar a la tabla). In 2007 ,Becky Baumgartner did a film based on the story of Bethany. The name of the film was soul surfer and the actress who did the role of bethany was AnnaSophia Robb.

She was a young girl when the accident happened and I think that she is an ispiration for all of us because she find the way to return to surfing again with only one arm.Her dad told her that it was not going to be easy, but she said: i don’t need it easy, only possible.
