AVAILABLE TUESDAY JULY 16: Full Card Selections & Betting Window for Del MarAVAILABLE THURSDAY JULY 18: Full Card Selections & Betting Window for Saratoga

THE WIZARD'S CRYSTAL BALL# 5 TRIBAL PEACE (Race 4)Tribal Rule filly won her 2yo debut and then went to the sidelines after finishing 3rd in a small stakes on opening day at DelMar. A series of fast five-furlong drills for Sadler appeared to have her wound up tight for her return, but she broke slowly andfailed to contend. Tribal Peace failed to show any speed in her 2nd start of the year, then really kicked it in down the stretchto miss by a neck. Look for Bejarano to have her closer to the pace in a field without much speed.

# 8 ETHNIC DANCE (Race 7)Given two months to reload by Sadler following a fine performance in which he ran too good to lose. The black colt stalkeda fast pace to the turn after breaking off balance. Bejarano moved up to challenge on the stretch turn and got to the front indeep stretch before losing a head-bobbing decision to a closer who was taking advantage of the race shape. The winner,Somethings Unusual, came back to win an allowance in his next start. Also, Meydan Magic, the 3rd place finisher, returned tobreak his maiden and then win an allowance. Solid works have Ethnic Dance sitting on ready with regular rider Bejarano up.

# 6 SPIRIT RULES (Race 10)Showed promise when he broke his maiden with a big figure when making his 2nd start in November 2011. After two 3rd placefinishes he went down with an injury and was not seen for 16 months. His return could not have been more impressive, adominating win in a Cal-bred allowance that was both fast and visually impressive. Interestingly, Paul Aguirre moves him to theturf, a surface that he is bred to relish. Jock Puglisi handled him perfectly in that last win. A square price is all but guaranteed.

4 TIZ THE ROUTE 3-1 STEINER J HERRICK J

5yo mare needs careful handling as she has been unable to string her races together. Joe Herrick brings her back with a bigclass drop following two decent efforts against much tougher at Santa Anita. Both of her wins came following layoffs and bothwere here on the Cushion Track. With her versatility she can either press the pace or close from behind.

6 METAXA 9-5 BEJARANO R BREUER D

5yo mare comes off the best race of her career, a win over softer two lifetime claimers in which she pressed a soft pace on aspeed-favoring track. Two starts back she overcame a troubled trip in which she pressed the pace between horses, then wassqueezed back and lost her momentum. Metaxa re-rallied to take a late lead before succumbing to a closer. Nice outside drawwith Bejarano returning.

2 ONE MAGICAL GIRL 4-1 DELGADILLO A SPAWR W

Was not seen for almost a year after Spawr claimed her for $25,000 in June of last year. In her rather disappointing return shedid not break sharply and faded after showing brief speed. The double-drop in class will help as Spawr switches to his favoriterider Delgadillo. Has won over this course and can improve with recency.

RACE 2 Post Time 1:32 5 1/2 Furlongs | Fillies and Mares | 3 YearOlds And Up | Maiden Claiming($18,000) | Purse: $19,000

5 BRANDON'S PRINCESS 9-5 MALDONADO E PAPAPRODROMOU G

Has not looked as good in her last two starts after finishing 3rd for a $75,000 tag in her debut. Best as a stalker, she was usedsetting a fast pace last time and had nothing left for the drive. This big class drop makes her the one to beat with Maldonadoreplacing Nakatani. She will need the right ride in a field that contains several front-runners.

4 HUERA BONITA 4-1 STRA K PALMA H

Was hung wide all the way when returning from a five month layoff. The 3yo filly passed four horses in the final furlong andfigures to get a hot pace to set up her late run. Improvement is expected with a race over the track. Returns in 21 days with twouseful recent works. Should offer a square price with Kayla Stra up.

1 JEANNE MARINI 3-1 OROZCO I MACHOWSKY M

Had brief early speed before finishing a badly beaten last in both starts against straight maidens. This drop into a particularlyweak basement maiden claimer seems sure to make her a win contender. Recent works have been good, the shorter distancewill also help and she has the advantage of the rail.

8 DIXIE DEVILLE 15-1 BLANC B MORROW S

Broke slowly from the rail and was never able to reach contention in her debut against Golden Gate straight maidens. This onecould improve a ton with a race under her belt and the class relief. She is a playable longshot in a weak field, however she wouldbe more attractive if her trainer was not just 1 for 48 during the last 5 years.

RACE 3 Post Time 2:04 6 Furlongs | Fillies and Mares | 3 Year OldsAnd Up | Starter Allowance | Purse: $35,000

$1 Exacta / $2 Quinella / $1 Trifecta $1 Superfecta (10-cent min.) / $2 Double / $1 Pick 3

3 UNSEEN VISITOR 7-5 MALDONADO E PUYPE M

Won as if a ton the best when dropped into a $40,000 maiden claimer by Puype. Near the back of the pack early, she movedinto contention with a :22 3/5 second (turn time) quarter. The black filly drove to the front at the top of the stretch and drew wellclear. That big win was both fast and visually impressive. It also makes her eligible for this starters allowance that is restricted tothose who broke their maiden for $40,000 or less. The late bloomer is also proven on the lawn.

1 MIDNIGHT LADY 8-5 OROZCO I SADLER J

Despite a modest work tab the Cindago filly was bet down from 8-1 to 7-2 in her debut against basement maidens. MidnightLady dusted the field by 8+ lengths while pulling away with every stride in the drive. Fortunately for Sadler there were no takersat the claim box. Given 6 weeks to reload with four works since raced. Bred to love the grass and a dangerous contender inwhat looks like a two-horse race.

6 WALLLULA BLUFFS 15-1 PEDROZA M PENDER M

Washington-bred beat soft maidens at Emerald Downs in her debut, then tired in the drive at this level on Golden Gate's Tapetasurface. Doubt that she can beat either of the top two selections, but she is bred for turf and seems to have some upside potential.

RACE 4 Post Time 2:35 6 1/2 Furlongs | Fillies and Mares | 3 YearOlds And Up | Allowance Optional Claiming($25,000) |Purse: $54,000

Gaze into the "Wizard's Crystal Ball" (BEST BET) at the top of the sheet

2 BRILLIANT MELODY 7-2 KRIGGER K O'NEILL D

Finished a close-up 4th in a race that was common to all three contenders. Since that was her first start in 7 1/2 months, it isreasonable to expect improvement this afternoon. Trainer O'Neill tries a rider switch from Gutierrez to Krigger. With her speedshe figures to be close to the projected moderate pace.

3 PEPPY BOLLY 3-1 SMITH M MANDELLA G

Rallied with interest in the drive to miss by a length despite being forced to take up in deep stretch. Toss the turf race two startsback as she is much better on the main track. Filly has the figures to contend for the win once again even though she has finished2nd six times as compared to two wins.

RACE 5 Post Time 3:07 1 1/2 Miles | Open | 3 Year Olds And Up | G3Sunset H. | Purse: $100,000

2 MARKETING MIX 1-1 STEVENS G PROCTOR T

5yo mare was a strong second in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, in which she faced some of the world's best and wasedged at the wire after taking a late lead. She was set to make her 2013 debut in the Churchill Distaff Turf Mile on the KentuckyDerby undercard, but Tom Proctor opted for the 9-furlong Gamely. She scored a narrow win in the Gamely while not fully crankedup. Proctor has her ready to rock this afternoon and the only question is her ability at 12 furlongs. The feeling here is that shewill pass the test.

1 DHAAMER (IRE) 6-5 LEPAROUX J MITCHELL M

6yo marathon specialist has won all three starts on this turf course, each of them at this 12-furlong distance. Dhaamer dusteda modest field in this race last year. After failing to fire in his first start of the year, a prep race on the dirt, he returned to formwith an easy win in the Round Table. This will be a tougher test, as he faces a top class mare in Marketing Mix. One thing forsure, this guy will stay the distance.

5 HAWK'S EYES (BRZ) 8-1 ESPINOZA V AVILA A

It is hard to gauge how the Brazilian will fit with these, as South American form can be hard to interpret. He is, however, a doubleG1 winner on the grass, although his only try beyond a mile resulted in a 5th place finish at 10 furlongs. A C Avila apparentlythinks he will stay the route, so we will give him a shot at a minor award.

RACE 6 Post Time 3:37 5 1/2 Furlongs | Open | 3 Year Olds And Up| Maiden Claiming($18,000) | Purse: $19,000

8 BUCK'S TORNADO 4-1 CARRENO J MORENO H

Thought he would run well when he was dropped to this level with first time Lasix, but he ran into a buzzsaw front-runner thatwas riding the speed bias. The horse that nosed him out for 2nd came back to run well for a $32,000 tag. Like the much improvedbullet 3-furlong blowout on Friday. Switches back to Carreno.

7 DIVINE NOTION 5-2 TALAMO J PUYPE M

National gelding has not been seen since he eased after showing brief speed in his debut for a $100,000 claiming tag in November.Since then there has been a barn change from Kitchingman to Puype, a series of good works and Talamo in the saddle. Expectedto show his current best form in his first start back.

6 TETON COUNTY 5-1 DELGADILLO A GRAYSON B

Gray gelding failed to make it to the races during the winter but is finally set to debut as a 5yo with four recent works. Bobby WayneGrayson is a longshot trainer who pops occasionally with first time starters. It is hard to imagine an easier spot than this one.

5 INDIAN SPIRIT 6-1 OROZCO I PALMA H

Even though he was well beaten in his last two starts he has the figures to be a contender in another woefully weak field ofbottom-level maiden claimers. A wide trip hurt him the last time when he was ridden by Orozco for the first time.

RACE 7 Post Time 4:07 1 Mile | Open | 3 Year Olds And Up | MaidenSpecial Weight | Purse: $52,000

8 ETHNIC DANCE (Best Bet) 9-5 BEJARANO R SADLER J

Gaze into the "Wizard's Crystal Ball" (BEST BET) at the top of the sheet

2 VOLKONSKY 5-2 TALAMO J WARREN D

Took a lot of betting action in his debut and ran a big race. Bejarano brought him from the back of the pack to finish a fast-closing 2nd despite losing his whip in deep stretch. Volkonsky improved several lengths to finish 2nd to next-out repeat winnerMeydan Magic when trying both two turns and the grass for the first time. Eligible to take another step forward the 3rd timearound for veteran Don Warren.

5 HEAT FLASH 4-1 QUINONEZ A ABRAMS B

Late runner comes off his best race, a 3rd place finish against this kind going 6 furlongs. The son of Unusual Heat has both thebreeding and energy distribution pattern to be at his best over a route of ground, so it is surprising that Barry Abrams waiteduntil his 6th start to stretch him out.

7 ELUSIVE JOURNEY 6-1 STRA K NETTLES K

Maiden with 14 starts hit the board in both starts since returning from a layoff of more than a year. In his most recent start hewas edged for the place by Volkonsky after stalking a fast pace. 5yo has had a lot of chances, but he figures squarely in thehunt once again.

RACE 8 Post Time 4:37 6 1/2 Furlongs | Open | 3 Year Olds And Up| Allowance Optional Claiming($25,000) | Purse: $54,000

8 INDIAN CLASSIC 5-2 ESPINOZA V PALMA H

Gelding was freshened for two months by Palma after failing to reach contention in a small stakes. That was his first againstwinners and he rebounded nicely when dropped to this level off the break. Hurt by an excessively wide trip, he settled for 3rdafter making a threatening move on the turn. Mid-pack closer was stuck on the rail last time and still finished 2nd despite beingforced to set the pace.

4 NIGHT BADGER 4-1 MALDONADO E HEADLEY K

Cyclotron gelding finished an even 3rd when tried on the turf following a 10-month layoff. Headley's runners typically improvewith recency, but this one tired after dueling for command between horses. Two fast works since raced have him set to rebound.Earned a big figure here last spring when he finished 2nd to a next-out winner with a stakes contender behind him in 3rd.

7 HUNGER 6-1 OROZCO I MIYADI S

NoCal shipper gets back on the main track following a failed turf experiment. In his previous start he missed by a half-length inan open allowance, a race that was flattered when the winner came back to finish 2nd in a stakes. Trainer Miyadi wins 23% ofthe time with those returning from a similar layoff.

9 MEMPHIS 3-1 PUGLISI I GREELY C

5yo hit the board in 8 of his last 10 starts, but he still has just 1 win in 17 starts. That win came back in 2011 when he was a3yo. Running consistently well and should once again be a part of the contention. Trainer is winless this year and jock Puglisihas won with 3% of his mounts.

8 SHAKAHARI 7-2 OROZCO I CERIN V

Son of win-early sire Indian Charlie is a half to millionaire Sweet Talker and $400K earner Silver Medallion. Shakahari has severalbullets on his tab and debuts off a best-of-30 five furlongs last Saturday. Vladimir Cerin is not known for his success with firsttimers, but when he has a good one they usually come out flying. Gets a weight advantage with Orozco up.

4 AMERICAN PRIDE 5-2 GARCIA M BAFFERT B

Closing Argument colt with modest bloodlines brought $180,000 at the Keeneland yearling sale, 24 times his sire's stud fee. Intypical Baffert fashion he debuts off two bullet works. Barn's capability with first timers is well known, so this one is expectedto go favored.

3 RUM POINT 5-1 GUTIERREZ M O'NEILL D

Son of A+ debut sire Malibu Moon is a half to four winners. Has a solid work tab for Doug O'Neill, although the five straight gateworks indicate that he may have trouble breaking. O'Neill wins with 15% of his first time starters overall, but 33% of the timewhen they are for Reddam. Stable rider Gutierrez up.

10 DANCE WITH FATE 9-2 BEJARANO R EURTON P

Colt from the first crop of Two Step Salsa has turned heads in the morning, although he is reportedly not quick from the blocks.Peter Eurton wins with just 5% of his first time starters, so this one is likely to need a race. Still, he looks like a top prospect andBejarano has been riding him in the morning.

RACE 10 Post Time 5:37 6 Furlongs | Open | 3 Year Olds And Up |Allowance Optional Claiming($40,000) | Purse: $54,000

6 SPIRIT RULES (Best Bet) 7-2 PUGLISI I AGUIRRE P

Gaze into the "Wizard's Crystal Ball" (BEST BET) at the top of the sheet

2 U S CITIZEN 5-2 BEJARANO R JONES M

4yo won his debut on the grass last summer, then went to the sidelines following two solid efforts at this level. Marty Jonesbrought him back in peak form as he lost a tough decision and was in front one jump past the wire. Lightly raced colt again helda late lead before being run down by a closer last time. That was his best race yet and he will obviously be tough right back.

8 SACRED OVATION 6-1 STEINER J SHERMAN A

The $16,000 claim by Art Sherman almost paid immediate dividends when he missed by a nose when hoisted in class to faceallowance colts on the grass. He followed that with his best race yet, a nose loss in the Harry Henson. His most recent start, following a two-month freshening, was not one of his best. Dangerous if he can recapture his top form.

5 LOVE THAT ACTION 8-1 TALAMO J D'AMATO P

Won a Cal-bred allowance last year and ran several good races at this level. He went to the sidelines for four months after hebled last time out. Lasix will be added for this one as D'Amato enters him under the $40,000 claiming option. Several five-furlongdrills could have him ready.

3 THE GATEKEEPER 4-1 OROZCO I SADLER J

Ghostzapper gelding broke slowly in his debut and was not able to reach contention. With that one under his belt Mike Mitchelldropped him to the basement where he finished 2nd to sharp next-out repeat winner Billy Win. Although he was well beaten byDramatic Allan last time he was hurt by both the slow pace and speed bias. Gets in light with the switch to Orozco.

11 SAINT LEO 3-1 MALDONADO E PAPAPRODROMOU G

Set a fast pace to the stretch when tried on the grass against straight maidens on May 10. Dropped to this level with a switchback to the main track for his next start, a solid performance in which he faded to 3rd after setting a fast pace. His fade last timecan be excused as he was used setting wickedly fast fractions.

2 DRAMATIC ALLAN 7-2 ESPINOZA V STUTE G

Dramatic Allan appeared well placed two starts back but he was run down by the favorite who was returning from a long layoff.Liked his chances last out but he was no match for the dominant winner. Appears to have only Saint Leo to contend with onthe pace this time.

1 LIFE RULE 6-1 GONZALEZ, JR. S PUYPE M

Mike Puype wins with just 13% of his debuting maiden claimers, but this one is training steadily and faces a weak field. This oneis a win contender despite breaking from the dreaded rail with a rider that this barn rarely uses.
