ANYTHING GOES MAY 26-29 Anything Goes this week from art, gardening, science and

magic to minute-to-win-it and the amazing race! A little bit

of everything to kick off summer camp!

Fee: $60 members/$72 non-members.

OH THE PLACES YOU’LL GO JUNE 1-5 From there to here from here to there, funny things are

everywhere! Let’s travel the world Dr. Seuss style! Lots of

crazy, silly and fun crafts and games this week!

PUMP IT UP JUNE 8-12 Kids will be moving this week with backyard and gym

games, obstacles courses, bowling, swimming and health

and wellness activities. We’ll have so much fun moving!

Golf Camp Bonus:

Golf builds character, leadership skills and self-esteem.

Included in this camp, children entering grades 3-5 will

have the opportunity to participate in the Intro to Golf

program at the Holdrege Country Club each day from 9-

11:30 a.m. They will learn golf fundamentals and skills.

Clubs will be provided for those who don’t have their own.

CRANE RIVER DRAMA JUNE 22-26 Your child will have a chance to shine and build self-

confidence in front of a crowd in this camp, which is a

partnership with Crane River Theater in Kearney. Children

will have fun through imagination and play and will learn to

challenge themselves while working with others and turn

the ordinary into the extraordinary. The final day of camp

will feature a performance for family and friends. Outside

of the Crane River portion of the day, campers will partici-

pate in regular day camp activities.

Calling All Minions! Kindergarten-Grade 2

Go behind the goggles and discover the world of your fa-

vorite characters from “Despicable Me.” Kids will transform

into these likable minions as they play games, create crafts

and serve some of the most despicable masters of all time.

Comedy of Sports: Grades 3-5

On your marks, get set, LAUGH! This interactive workshop

will be full of games that focus on the wonderful world of

comedy. Kids will create characters and storylines that lend

themselves to the humor of everyday life. By the final day

of class, two teams will pit themselves against each other

in a Comedy Olympics that is sure to entertain audiences.

SPACE IS THE PLACE JULY 6-10

3…2…1…Blast Off! A week of exploring outer space from

constellations, rockets and comets to UFO’s and Jedi’s. A

field trip to the planetarium is planned

SOAKED JULY 20-24

There’s no better way to spend a hot summer day than in

the water. Wet N’ Wild fun including water games, swim-

ming, slip-n-slides, water balloons, and everything wet! A

field trip to Hastings Water Park is planned.

Round ‘em up, Partner! We’ll take a trip out West this

week at camp. Discover the great outdoors and some local

history. From cowboy and cowgirl crafts to western

themed games, you’ll be saying “Yee-haw!” in no time!

ALOHA SUMMER AUGUST 10-11

We’ll say goodbye to summer by getting soaked again! Last

chance for a field trip to the waterpark! And, on Tuesday

we’ll host a Hawaiian party with a BBQ lunch, DIY school

supplies, and of course lots of fun and games. After this

exciting two days, they’ll be ready to strap their backpack

on and head back to school!

ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAMP Tuesday & Wednesday, May 26 & 27 and June 2 & 3

Tweens and teens will learn skills like marketing, budgeting

and self awareness and will actually start their own business

in this summer class, which is a partnership between the

YMCA and the University of Nebraska Extension in Phelps

County. Participants will have the opportunity to implement

their businesses after the class ends.

Instructor: Janita Pavelka.

Time: 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (Lunch not included)

Age: 10-14

Fee: $35 for YMCA or 4-H members/$60 non-members.

INTRODUCTION TO GOLF June 8-12, 9-11:30 a.m.

Children will learn more than just basic golf skills in this in-

troductory class. They will also learn leadership skills and

build character and self-esteem. Meets at the Country Club

each day from 9-11:30 a.m.

LEGO CAMP June 15-19, 1-4 p.m.

Lots of fun movement games, singing and making our own

instruments!

MUD PIE AUGUST 3-7 Digging for worms, mud painting and planting flowers are all

apart of the fun this week! Leave the good clothes at home

and be ready to get dirty!

KIDS CAFÉ BEGINS JUNE 1 Kids of all ages are invited to the summer Kids’ Café,

where they can socialize with friends, eat a FREE nutri-

tious meal and enjoy games and crafts. Kids are encour-

aged to bring friends. Adults may also eat with children

by paying a meal donation.

Location: First Presbyterian Church, 1103 Sheridan

Time: Noon-1 p.m.

COMMUNITY GARDEN NEW PROGRAM! Volunteers are needed to start a new community garden

at the YMCA. The goal is to teach children about growing

food and provide food for people in need in our commu-

nities. This is a partnership between the Y, the Tri Basin

NRD, the Holdrege High School FFA and the University of

Nebraska Extension Phelps County.

Supply donations and volunteers to weed and water the

garden are needed. Contact Janell at the Y to help.

PRESCHOOL CAMPS & PROGRAMS

OUTREACH PROGRAMS

LEAP & LEARN The Leap & Learn program is a

fun-filled time for children

ages 3-5. Y staff will lead the children through

activities to encourage imagination, creativity,

socialization and physical play. Activities may

include counting, alphabet, story time, circle

time to share thoughts, coloring and crafts.

We also include gym games, track time, free

play and outdoor time as the weather permits.

Monday-Wednesday-Friday

Ages: 3-5 (must be toilet trained)

YOUTH TRAVEL BASEBALL (Grades 3-8 as of 2014-15 school year)

YMCA and PSA youth sports teach skills to make it more fun

and exciting for emerging athletes. The 9 and older divisions

will compete in the South Central Baseball League and will travel

to compete against teams from other towns.

YOUTH RECREATION BASEBALL (Grades 1-2 as of 2014-15 school year)

This recreation league is also known as machine-pitch or coach

pitch. It is a great introductory league to learn the fundamen-

tals and basic rules of the game.

Games: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays at 6:30 or 8 p.m.

Register by May 4. $10 late fee after May 4.

No registrations accepted after May 13.

YOUTH COED T-BALL & COACH PITCH (Ages 4-6) Year One T-Ball: Played with a Nerf-type soft baseball and

soft bat without the need for helmets. (Program is meant for

any child in the 4-6 age range who is just starting out.)

Year Two Coach Pitch/T-Ball: Played with a softer type

baseball, regular bats and helmets. Coaches will give the

players a few chances to hit a pitched ball before hitting off

the tee. (Meant for kids ages 5-6)

Dates: May 19-June 25

Year One T-Ball (Tuesdays after 5:30 p.m.)

Year Two Coach Pitch/T-Ball (Thursdays after 5:30 p.m.)

HOLDREGE HEAT SOFTBALL (Ages 10U-18U, based on age as of Jan. 1, 2015)

Girls will compete and build friendships and confidence in

this traveling softball league that is a joint program between

the YMCA and PSA. This league is for girls seeking a higher

level of competition.

May-July

Games typically played on Mondays and/or Wednesdays with

occasional weekend tournaments.

Divisions: 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U

Register by Jan. 28. No registrations after April 13.

Fee: $60 members/$70 non-members.

HUSKER BASEBALL CLINIC Wednesday, July 1, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Husker baseball players will present an all-skills clinic for

area youth. Lunch will be provided at no additional cost. The

Husker softball representatives are not able to join us this

year, but girls are encouraged to sign up and attend the

baseball clinic.

Age: 7 years to 2016 graduates

FISHING CLINIC Wednesday, April 22, 6 p.m.

All children should experience the great outdoors. This pro-

gram gives every child that opportunity. In partnership with

the Nebraska Walleye Association and many volunteers, we

will give youth a chance to learn the basics of fishing, includ-

ing baiting a line, identifying fish and casting. A meal is in-

cluded in this clinic. Gift bags will be given to each child.

Ages: 5-14

Class Limit: 75 children

The group will meet at the North Park. Rain date: April 29.

Fee: $5 members and non-members.

MOM AND SON FISHING FUN Saturday, May 2, 9-10:30 a.m.

Sponsored by CHS Agri Service Center

Boys, take your mom, grandma, aunt or best gal out to North

Park for a morning of fishing. The Y will provide all the fish-

ing equipment needed. Don’t worry if you have never baited a

hook, a little special help will be provided.

Age: Boys 4 years and older with a mom or mother figure

Class Limit:15 couples

Fee: $5/$2.50 for each additional boy for members

$10/$5 for each additional boy for non-members.

SUMMER MOVIE NIGHT Thursday, June 25 Time: Dusk

Free family event open to the community

Come to the Y for an outdoor movie night in the backyard

under the stars. Bring blankets and chairs for lawn seating.

NERF WARS Nerf Wars at the Y are more than a battle with foam darts. This

program helps kids develop teamwork, problem solving and

sportsmanship. Bring your Nerf guns, and we will supply the

darts and the engineering help. The kids will have to work to-

gether within groups to put strategies into practice as they

build barriers with different objects.

FCA BASKETBALL CAMP Date TBA

For boys and girls grades 6-8 and 9-12 (2014-15 grades).

This camp will focus on basketball skills and fundamentals

and will teach kids about keeping their Christian values

while competing in sports.

YOUTH WEIGHT TRAINING Participants will learn the basics of weight lifting followed by

weight training on free weights and Cybex weight machines.

Participants can exercise in the wellness center upon comple-

tion. Class includes training on exercise etiquette, body compo-

sition, benefits of exercise, weight-training basics, cardiovas-

cular fitness, nutrition and supplement use, machine and free-

weight training sessions.

Two-day sessions are offered on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30-

7:30 p.m., on the following dates: April 7 & 9, April 21 & 23,

May 19 & 21, June 16 & 18, Aug. 4 & 5.

Ages: 11-14. Fee: $20. Register at least three days prior to

start date. Limit: 5 participants in each session.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING & RECERTIFICATION April 18 & 19

This course is for professional lifeguards and includes train-

ing in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and

water rescue skills.

Participants must be 15 years or older by April 18.

YMCA swim lessons use a learn-to-swim progression from

water orientation to stroke development that meets the

needs of swimmers at all levels. Participants learn water

safety skills and stroke development in a fun and supportive

environment that emphasizes character development and

times will be offered during both sessions.

Boot camp gives you cardiovascular, muscle-building workouts

developed by personal trainers that guarantee results. With a

limited ratio of members to instructors, you will receive individ-

ual motivation each week. Plus, the accountability and camara-

derie from other participants is a special bonus.

If you’ve always wanted to try boot camp, but the snooze but-

ton was just too tempting, the Y has a new option — Express

Boot Camp. This boot camp starts at 8:30 a.m. and lasts for 45

minutes. You will enjoy motivating, high-energy workouts devel-

oped by personal trainers that guarantee a healthier body and

spirit. Plus, you will enjoy the support and motivation of the

group setting.

the Summer Sizzle challenge. The goal is to exercise at the Y at

least 15 times per month in June, July and August. Monthly

prizes will be awarded as well as a $500 cash prize for one

lucky person who completes the challenge. All finishers will re-

ceive a Summer Sizzle T-shirt. Fee: $10, members only.

COUCH TO 5K April 20-June 19

This program is for new runners, experienced runners looking to

start running again, or for runners who need a little extra moti-

vation to train for the Silver Run on June 20.

Saturday, June 20, 7:30 a.m.

Walk or run in the 23rd Annual Silver Run that en-courages people of all levels to get active. Races include sanctioned 2-mile, 5K or 10K runs as well as a 2-mile walk. All races start and finish at the North Park. Chip timing will be used for all events. Medals and trophies will be awarded following the race in nine age divisions in both men’s and wom-en’s events.

Fee: $25 if registered by June 9. Fee after June 9: $30 and T-shirt not guaranteed.

CHILD WATCH

Child Watch is supervised play for children ages 6 weeks to 7

years while parents exercise at the Y. The time limit for child

Please register for full-day summer camps by picking up a reg-istration packet at the YMCA. The packet will include detailed information for parents to complete, such as emergency con-tacts and other information to keep your child safe.

Register by May 18 to save $10 off the registration fee for each camp. Payments for full-day camps will be drafted the Wednesday of each camp to avoid one large payment at the beginning of summer. Camp scholarships are available based on financial need thanks to generous YMCA donors. A one-page scholarship application is all that is needed to apply.

Camp cancellation policy: Full refund given if cancelled at least two weeks prior to the camp. Fifty percent refund given if cancelled less than two weeks before camp starts.
