After a leadoff double by catcher Josh Gregor, senior Josh Littrell took over as a courtesy runner on the base pads. Littrell later scored on a one-out RBI single off the bat of Alex Moritz to get Owensville on the scoreboard. With Moritz stranded at first, the Dutchmen went into the fifth inning trailing 4-1.

With a walk and a hit in the top of the fifth, the visiting Tigers got the run back taking a 5-1 lead.

Retiring the Dutchmen in order in the bottom of the fifth, Waynes-ville had a chance to add to their lead in the sixth.

Fielding a pair of young relay teams, Candrl is very excited about the future of OHS Track.

“Even though they’re young, our girls relay teams competed hard against a solid field of teams,” Candrl said.

Taking 10th in the 4x200-meter relay was the Dutchgirl quartet of Clara Wehmeyer, Mackenzie Lampkin, Sue Meyer and Morgan Belloir in a time of 1:57.56.

Winning their heat of the girls 4x100-meter relay with a time of 52.94 was the OHS foursome of Ali Doll, Clara Wehmeyer, Charboneau and Ellis. This time was almost three seconds faster than their previous PR this year and also the fastest since the state teams of 2006.

Breaking the 50-second bar-rier in the 300-meter hurdles, Ellis settled for sixth in the event with a time of 49.95. Scarlett Warner also took 10th with a final time of 51.17.

Warner also made the finals of the 100-meter hurdles taking sev-enth with a time of 17.61. Carry Schroeter ended her sophomore season with a 100 hurdles time of 20.06 good for 17th place.

Re-entering the game, Reid drew

a one-out walk before advancing to second on a wild pitch. During Smith’s next at-bat, Reid scored when Smith reached base on a dropped third strike.

Dutchmen senior first baseman Nathanael Gregor kept the inning alive reaching on an error with two outs before the game ended on a groundout.

Two days later in the first round of the Class 3, District 8 baseball tournament in Fulton, Owensville saw their season end with a 10-0 loss to Borgia in six innings.

Cross Country runners.With a large contingency of

young harriers, Owensville began bringing home the hardware with team titles for the varsity girls and runner-up nods at Linn for the JV Dutchmen and OMS Dutchgirls.

Dwayne Clingman’s volleyball squad started their season right out of the gate with a match against Mike Tyree’s Borgia Knights.

Even though Borgia got the bet-ter end of the deal, Owensville im-mediately found out they could play with anyone they faced throughout the season.

Toward the end of the 2011 vol-leyball season, the Dutchgirls made it all the way to the district title game giving Borgia everything they had. Even though they settled for the second-place plaque, Dutchgirl volleyball has a very bright future with an incoming freshman class that did not lose a match as OMS Dutchgirl volleyball players.

Competing with Baehr in the 1600 and 3200-meter runs, Megan Dunlap placed ninth in the 1600 in a time of 6:01.42 while her younger sister Emmy was 12th in the 3200 with a time of 13:43.02. Both sisters will get to run together for one more year as Megan will be a senior dur-ing the 2012-13 school year.

Charboneau (7th in 14.25) and Doll (8th in 14.57) also made the finals of the 100-meter dash.

Stepping up in the pole vault, freshman Eric Dahl tied for 14th clearing 10-0 and establishing a new PR for himself by a foot.

“Eric (Dahl) kept improving throughout the season and I see good things from him in the future,” Candrl said.

Fellow freshman Matt Pohlmann also cleared 9-0 in the pole vault.

Making the finals of the triple jump as a freshman, Drew Garner posted an eighth-place mark of 38-00.75 to build on for the future. Kiowa Wright also recorded a dis-tance of 34-09 in the event.

Sophomore Joey Oberle ended

his season taking 15th in the long jump with a leap of 17-00.5.

Tyler Fritsch cleared 5-04 in the high jump to sneak into the top 10.

After breaking the nine-minute barrier at conference, the Dutch-men 4x800-meter relay team of Barry Gerber, Dietrich Bombach, Shawnee Wright and Matt Wills took 12th with a time of 9:15.94.

Leading the Dutchmen relay teams was the 4x100 quartet of Ben Angell, Devon Dowler, Oberle and Garner in an eighth-place time of 46.97.

Justin Isom ended his freshman season with a time of 47.93 in the 300-meter hurdles.

Enduring a warm day on the track, Gerber settled for 11th in the 1600 (4:52.10) and 15th in the 3200 (11:12.34). Blaine McKinney also ran the 3200 in a time of 11:16.41.

Sullivan’s girls and St. Clair’s boys proudly represented the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) capturing their respective district team titles and qualifying a load of athletes for sectionals this Saturday.
