One of the extreme sports in the budding America of the 21st century, Skateboarding is the
sport of the decade. The roots of skateboarding began in California of the 1950s where the
young adults and even some adults used to surf on the streets as there were no
skateboarding parks available. Skateboarding as grown since the 1950s and that too at a
fast pace. Nowadays, the sport of skateboarding is being merged with the technology and it
is this technology that has brought forward great gear and awesome places to skate and
skateboard. Amazing and astounding skate parks have been built all over the world and we
are here trying to rank the top 10 skate parks of the Unites States of America.
#1: Burnside Skate Park
Located in the city of Portland, Burnside Skate Park has been featured in the skate
magazines, video games and is considered an archetypal skate park by the skateboarding
pros. This quintessential skate park was created in 1990 and has featured some of the
sweet wallrides, bowls, quarterpipes, hips and bumps. Burnside Skate Park has grown and
developed in the last 26 years.
#2: Skate Lab
Atlantic Beach in Florida houses this incredible and mind-blowing skate park. Offering a
huge collection of ramps, rails and jumps, Skate Lab is renowned to push the skateboarders
into a gratifying adrenaline adventure. The finest feature of the Skate Lab is that it has a
huge indoor and outdoor area so that the weather is never an obstacle for the
skateboarders.
#3: Denver Skate Park
Situated on the Platte River, north of Downtown Denver, this skate park has an amazing
view of the city and the famous Rocky mountains. Massive in it’s size and tremendous in its
rides, Denver Skate Park has something for every kind of skater. Whether you are a
beginner, intermediate or an expert skater, the extensive street course and the bowls of the
park are open from 5 in the morning to 11 at night (with lights when sun sets).
#4: Louisville Extreme Park
The 24-foot concrete pipe of Loiuseville Extreme Park makes it one of the biggest
skateboarding park in the United States. This park has most rad features: it is open 24
hours a day and 365 days of the year and secondly, it is free!!! Whether you are a night
skater or trying out all skate parks in US, this the park you just have to skate in.
#5: Lincoln City Skate Park
Recognized as the largest skate park in the city of Oregon, Lincoln City Skate Park keeps on
getting better and better. This skate park is an amalgamation of five mini parks and was so
beautifully designed by the designers at Dreamland. Every year skate park enters a new
phase or gets an upgrade with a new concrete design. Thrasher magazine has even
christened it as "The Gnarliest Skatepark in the World."
#6: FDR Skate Park
Analogous to the Burnside Skate Park, FDR Skate Park is created by a few skateboarders
who are hungry for some concrete in the state of Philadelphia. FDR Skate Park has been
recognized by the Thrasher and Skateboarder magazine as a skateboarding paradise. This
park also features obstacles like Dome and Bunker. FDR is also featured in the Tony Hawk’s
Proving Ground video game.
#7: Vans Skate Park
Offering indoor and outdoor skateboarding, Vans Skate Park in Orange County is the best
place to see the veteran skateboarding pros like Salba, Jeff Grosso and Christian Hosoi.
Making skate shoes for nearly a decade, Vans, in 1999 decided to make a premium skate
park in California. With the reformation of the famous Upland combi-bowl and an
enormous wooden street course, Vans skate park does not let down the skaters.
#8: Lake Cunningham Regional Skate Park
With its plethora of bowls to choose from, Lake Cunningham Regional Skate Park is one of
the unique(st) skate park of the country. The skate park offers 70 feet long and 22 feet wide
pipe, cradles, street course, thimbles, pools, a mega wall and bowls for skaters who love the
rush of adrenaline in their day.
#9: Skate Park of Tampa (S.P.O.T)
Having skating indoor and outdoor contests since its inauguration in 1990, S.P.O.T have
been featured in various videos. The constantly changing world has skateboarding has
made sure that S.P.O.T has beginner and pro courses for budding skaters. This skate park
also has an annual pro contests.
#10: Rob Dyrdek/ DC Shoes Foundation Skate Plaza
Situated in uptown Dayton, DC Shoes Foundation Skate Plaza is a major public skate plaza
designed by Rob Dyrdek. Ideal for street skaters, this was one of the first skate parks in the
USA and it is open from dawn to dusk, full year for free.
