Ease of modifications
Adaptability for distance education
Maintenance of electronic records and
historical performance
Most certification exams are now provided
via CBT!
Some programs already utilizing CBT via
Sakai (Online course management system)
Others using written exams grade via
scantron
Scantron machine malfunctions become
costly and time consuming
Solution is to move forward and implement
CBT across programs
• School divided by Graduate and Undergraduate
Nursing Programs
• Graduate programs were 2 years into utilizing
CBT (specifically ExamSoft)
• Dean wanting to transition into CBT for the
school in it’s entirety
• No longer utilizing scantron machine
• Laptops that can function w/ ExamSoft
software now required for ALL students
Retire scantron machine and utilize CBT
across all programs
Who will be supporting this transition?
Who will be responsible for communicating
the transition to faculty and staff?
How will this be communicated to faculty
and staff?
What do we need to require of our students
upon admission for using CBT?
Do we have the space to cater to our course
sizes and CBT exam taking?
What does our timeline look like for
implementation?
We built a team as shown below:
Undergraduate Program Director
Associate Dean for Student Affairs
Computer Analyst
2 Academic Associates already skilled in utilizing
CBT (specifically ExamSoft)
• Computer policy in place as of Fall 2015
for ALL incoming students
• Official implementation start as of
Summer 2015 (July 1, 2015)
• Fall term start date Sept 28, 2015
• Three months to train fall term faculty
for preparation for using ExamSoft
