comes from the UK and US. And so do all of these

awesome alternative albums.

Halsey was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when she was 16.

Halsey stated that this album

was inspired by the movies

‘blade runner’ and ‘the fifth

element’. Halsey wrote this

album to escape her troubles

and worries. She stated in an

interview that her metaphor for

the album is “ that even with no

escape theres still optimism that

there is somewhere else to go”.

She has sold 97 000 in a week

and describes this album as a

‘angry female record’.

BEHIND THE ARTIST

As we all should know ‘Halsey’ is

not her real name, Halsey is just

her stage name. Her real name is

Ashley frangipane. Born Sept-

ember 29th, 1994 In Washington,

New jersey. Her career started by

doing covers of songs on you-

tube. Her first song she wrote is

called ‘ghost’. In October 27th,

2014 she released her E.P called

“Room 93”

So far Halsey has won 3 awards

so far in her career. Her first

award was an MTV Europe artist

on the rise in 2015. In 2016, she

won a people’s choice award for

favourite breakout artist and a

new musical express award for

best new artist.

These two best friends made there dream

come true! This band is fairly new but a big

hit! They have a mix of electronic, rap, pop,

punk rock and more! Read on to see how

Twenty one pilots consists of

Tyler joseph, born December

1st, 1988 and Josh dun who

was born on June 18th, 1988.

They met in college and are

originated from Columbus,

Ohio. They has their first tour

in 2009 all over Ohio. They

put out their first album in

2009 self titled “twenty one

pilots”. Then in 2011 they put

out another called “regional

at best” and “vessel”. And

now their newest album

“blurryface”.

Twenty one piolets have

won a total of 10 award.

They won 2 in 2013 for MTV

video music award for artist

to watch and MTV Europe

music award for best push

act. In 2014 they won 4

APMA’S for best live band,

album of the year,

breakthrough band and best

drummer. Also 4 more in

2015, 3 APMA’S, best live

band, most dedicated fans,

and tumblr fandom of the

year. And 1 teen choice

award for choice of rock.

hit album titled “ smoke and mirrors”!!

Smoke and mirrors were #1 on the UK charts, Canadian charts, and USA charts.

Quick Fact Their hit song ‘radioactive’ was #1 for 87 weeks on the billboard charts.

BEHIND THE ALBUM

Smoke and mirrors was

recorded in their home

town, Las Vegas, Nevada.

They self-produced the

album with the help of

Alexander Grant. In the first

week they got a total of 195

000 units sold. On April 12th ,

2015 they had a smoke and

mirrors tour. With a total of

108 shows they had 6 shows

in Canada. The first one was

in Calgary on June 5th, then

Edmonton on June 6th,

Winnipeg June 8th, Montreal

July 3rd , Toronto July 4th and

Vancouver July 30th .

The members of imagine

dragons met in university.

The members are Dan

Reynolds, lead singer, Dan

sermon, bassist, Dan

platzman, drummer and ben

McKee, lead guitar. Dan was

born July 14th, 1987, Daniel.S

was born July 15TH, 1984,

Daniel.P was born September

28th, 1986, and ben was born

April 17th, 1985. Thye have

put out 3 EP’S. Two in 2010

called “imagine dragons and

the other “hell and silence”

and in 2011 “its time”.

Imagine dragons has won a

total of 9 awards. They have

2 AMA’s for favourite

alternative artist, 1 Grammy

award for best rock

performance, 5 billboard

music awards and 1 world

music award!

members, Brenden Urie, lead

singer born April 12th, 1987.

Kenneth Harris, lead guitarist

born October 29th, 1981.

`Dallon Weekes, bassist born

may 4th, 1981. Dan

Pawlovich, drummer born

February 27th, 1985. They

originate from Las Vegas,

Nevada. Most of them met

in high school. While in high

school they also recorded

some demos.

BEHIND THE ALBUM

Brendon said he wrote these

songs completely at his

house, about his lifestyle and

his wife’s and his relation-

ship. In an interview brendon

stated, “ death of a bachelor

is very important to me, it

expresses the bittersweet end

of an era. A look back at a

part of my life now deceased.

A look into a possibly

different future. But mostly

an appreciation for the

present.”

AWARDS

Panic! At the disco only has a

total of 5 awards but have

been nominated many

times. In 2006 the band won

a MTV video music award for

video of the year. Also

another one in 2006, an MF

for best video international.

In 2008 they won a MTV Asia

award for the best style.

Brandon won an APMA

award for best vocalist in

2014. Their last award was in

2015 from RSRP for video of

the year once again!

Fall out boy is originated

from Wilmette, Illinois.

Patrick stump is the lead

singer, born April 27th, 1984.

Pete Wentz is the bassist,

born June 5th, 1979. Joe

Trohman is the lead guitarist

born September 1st, 1984.

And Andy Hurley is the

drummer born May 31st,

1980. Pete and Joe started

the band. They formed in

2001. Once they got

everyone together their

debut album came out in

2003 called “ take this to

your grave”.

Awhile after they released

the album, on October 1st,

2015 they stated a European

tour. They stated in Dublin,

Ireland and then had about

12 dates within the UK,

Russia, Germany, and France.

Pete and Patrick wrote the

album while on tour with

Paramore. Patrick got the

name ‘American beauty’ from

an album by ‘grateful dead’

and the 1999 film. ‘American

psycho’ is from a book and

the 2000 film.

Fall out boy has won many

awards. Their first award

was an MTVU award in 2004.

MTV2 award in 2004. They

have won 4 MTV awards,

one in 2005, 2006, 2007 and

2015. They have 5 K!

awards, one in 2006, 2007,

2013, and two in 2015! Five

teen choice awards, 3 in

2006, and 2 in 2007. Then we

have 1 NKCA in 2007, and 1

MMVA in 2008. Then 3 TMF

awards in 2008. One PCA in

2014, 1 Alternative press

award in 2015, 1 WMA

award in 2015, 1 AMA in

2015. With a huge total of 25

awards!!
