CMP SHOOTS

SCHEDULED TO

RESUME JULY

THE 9TH Well the robins were there, but so was the cold weather. On Saturday May 14th we had two brave souls show up for the CMP Shoot. There were rumors of a snow flake being seen just after the shoot, but in spite of the weather a successful shoot was held. In the end the younger shooter prevailed, but only by a mere 10 points. We will take the month of June off, but you can fill that time slot by coming to Comptons, if you are an Archery buff or would like to find out what archery is about, come down to the club on June 17th,18th, and 19th and you will see some expert and amateur archer’s at work. Well back to the CMP program, on July 9th we will be having a Poker Shoot. So break out your 22 caliber or small bore rifle and bring it down for the shoot. If it has a scope or just iron sights, bring it down because you shoot at playing cards that are face down on a card-board backing. There will be volleys with poi-son cards and wild cards. You will have a separate score sheet to score your targets, and a great time will be had by all. The cost will be $10 per person, “no club guns will be provided” the shoot will start at 8:00

am. Bring a friend and “let’s Play Some Poker the fun way”, see you there. For questions call Gene Herrman at 269-465-5026. July 9, 2016 Poker Shoot August 13, 2016 Poker Shoot September 10, 2016 CMP? or Poker Shoot? (TBA)

BCSC RETIREES HOLD TRAP SHOOT ON MAY 25 The Club retirees moved outdoors for their May 25 meeting. Trap and Skeet chair-man Tom Holt set up the trap range for this group of eager shooters. The next Re-tiree Meeting is Wednesday, June 22nd at 10:00am. We have decided to meet monthly for the summer months. We have been having discussions of our favorite guns followed by some time in the indoor and outdoor ranges. We have moved to the outdoor ranges for the summer. So far, we have had discussions and sharing of member’s favorite rimfire, centerfire, and military guns, including swords, trench art, and military items. For June, we are planning an outdoor rifle shoot, weather permitting. Bring your old military rifle or whatever you have. We will be meeting at the rifle range at 10:00 am. If interested in attending contact: Jason Grimm @ (269) 927-1793 or Mike Parker @ (269) 429-0507 Mike Parker

NEW

MEMBERS, BRING YOUR

PISTOLS

New members! Come on out with your pistol on Thursday nights and enjoy shooting with some of the old members. We would like to meet you and have you use our indoor pistol and rifle range. We will help you with your shooting skills for when you decide to take the club’s monthly CPL class. If you are not a current CPL holder, you will need to be sure to separate your ammunition and firearm and place these two items in different parts of your vehicle when transporting your fire-arm. The clubhouse range opens at 7:00 p.m.

IDPA shoots are the second Satur-day of each month. Shooting runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Come on out and see what it is all about.

As of June 2, the DNR reports those hitting the inland lakes in this region are catching blue-gills, crappie, sunfish, and rock bass. Bass season is open and catch rates have been good. At St. Joseph, salmon fishing slowed but was still good. The fish were scattered and caught on spoons in 60 to 120 feet or more. Pier an-glers caught freshwater drum and catfish on crawlers. Perch fishing was slow. In the St. Joseph River, Bass anglers were doing well in the shallows and some large catfish were caught on crawlers, bluegills, shrimp or

cut bait.

To catch weekly DNR fishing reports and tips, go to:

When fishing on Club grounds, please have your membership card available or car decal visible. Good fishing! Jeff Jones, Chairman

IN GOD WE TRUST "No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily sub-dued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders."

Samuel Adams to James Warren, 1775
