Harley-Davidson dealers have always offered a wide array of options for you to customize your motorcycle. Some options helped you make your bike stand out in a crowd, some help you make your bike fit your stature, and others help you dream about that bike that you want “some day”. Now H-D has rolled all of those options under one banner on their website. Welcome to H-D1. The H-D1 page of www.harley-davidson.com gives you quick links to purchase Parts and Accessories from Classic Harley-Davidson online, the online Bike Builder where you can fantasize about that “some day” bike, details about our Fit Shop program to help you get the right fit from your Harley, and the new Factory Customization program featuring the redesigned 1200 Custom. All of these options are designed to help riders more enjoy their Harley-Davidson experience.
The Factory Customization program is something that I mentioned at the December HOG meeting. The Motor Company has launched this program with the 1200 Custom first, with additional models to be available in the future. The program is simple. Go to the H-D1 page at www.harley-davidson.com and design the 1200 Custom the way you want it. Pick from colors, handlebars, seats, wheels and pegs. Then print out your finished bike and bring it to Classic Harley-Davidson. We’ll work on your financing options and get your new Factory Custom ordered. Within 6 weeks your new 1200C will be shipped to us, exactly as you’ve designed it.
Spring Open House will be on Saturday April 16, 2011 this year followed by Big Daddy’s Day Off Poker Run on Sunday April 17th. Spring Open House is our way of really welcoming the warm Spring days. The grass is turning green, trees and flowers are in bloom, and we like to have a bit of a party to celebrate. That’s the easiest way to describe the Spring Open House. Just like many of us do at home, that’s the day that we like to open all of the doors, sweep out the winter dust, and enjoy a great day with our friends. Big Daddy’s Poker Run finishes off the weekend with a great 70 bar hop around Berks County, with the occasional dip into Lancaster and Lebanon Counties as well. For $25 pre-registration you’ll receive a t-shirt, donut and Danish breakfast before the ride (that’s usually accompanied by hot coffee and hotter bloody mary’s), 5 great bars, and a band with food at the end. It’s a great day to get out and ride with HOG members, dealership staff, and some friends that you may not of known that you had! Stop by the parts counter at Classic Harley-Davidson to register any time during the month of March.
Two weeks later Ride For Life will roll back into Berks County on April 30th and May 1st. For those who don’t check the Google Group very often, you can head over and check our archives from mid February. That’s where you’ll find the instructions that I posted regarding fundraising online. Each of the past 5 years Classic Harley-Davidson has been either the 2nd or 3rd top fundraising dealership for RFL. Last year we became just the 2nd dealership to ever eclipse $100,000 towards RFL. We’re well on our way to surpassing last year’s total and RFL is still 6 weeks away. Go online and start fundraising now to join in the largest motorcycle fundraiser for MDA in the nation.
Screw it, lets ride!

Can it really be that this rotten winter is somehow turning into spring? Man, I hope so. Cold and snow has lost its charm this winter. The only really good riding this winter was the 1-1-11 Iron Butt ride. This was a great ride (thanks Harry) but now it’s March and I haven’t ridden much. I envy those lucky folks who are heading to Daytona and the annual Iron Butt Association dinner in Jacksonville. Blue skies and green lights to who ever is going.‘Bout time to get the chrome pony ready for the riding season. Let’s make sure to give bike the attention she deserves. •Checkthedrivebeltforwearandcracksandtheoddstoneintheteeth. •Changetheoilintheengineandtransmission. •Isittimetochangetheforkoilyet? •Getdownanddirtybyinspectingyourtiresclosely.Checkforwear, cracksinthesidewallassortedroadcrapthatcan damage the tires.
