Manlius, NY 13104 Cell: (251) 7095006
Education:
● HampdenSydney College , Hampden Sydney, VA
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with American Chemical Society Certification: May 2015
President’s Scholarship and the Thomas Edward & Roberta A. Crawley Men’s Chorus Scholarship
Relevant Coursework:
● Chemistry Courses: 2 semesters: General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Instrumentation and
Analysis Chemistry. 1 semester: Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry.
● Pertinent Courses: 3 semesters: Rhetoric. 2 semesters: General Physics I & II, Calculus I & II. 1 semester: General Biology,
Genetics.
● Labs: 4 semesters: Advanced Lab. 2 semesters: General Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Physics. 1 semester:
General Biology, Genetics.
Competencies:
Research
● Independently developed industry relevant research projects in collaboration with a supervising professor.
● Using web based resources and standard research practices these multiple projects were successfully executed, documented
and published. Results and data were presented in both written and verbal media as well as overseen and confirmed by
supervising faculty.
Instrumentation
● Comfortable with the process of developing analytical methods as well as custom analytical instrumentation.
● Operating experience with NMR(13C and 1H), Infrared, Atomic Absorption, UVVisible Spectroscopy, TOC, pH meters and
conductivity meter, friability and hardness, KarlFischer Titrations, FT/IR.
● Familiar with GC/MS, LC/MS and other advanced separation techniques.
Experimentation
● 6 months Synthesized and analyzed Super Adsorbent Polymers (SAPs) for their ability to adsorb Cu2+ from aqueous solution.
These materials could be applied to radioactive cleanup of nuclear byproducts such as 135Cesium, 137Cesium, and 90Strontium
isotopes.
● 6 months Researched the effectiveness of a novel bifunctional organocatalyst with both Lewis acid and base sites for the
MoritaBaylisHillman (MBH) reaction. The Lewis Base portion of the molecule was synthesized and tested. A brief
computational analysis of how geometric differences between several viable functional groups would affect the reaction was
performed.
● 6 months Made and analyzed goat’s milk soap to find the saponification values of goat’s milk through titration experiments.
● 6 months Modernized a Spectronic 20 by integration of a Raspberry Pi, a microcomputer. Python coding language was used
to code the microcomputer for data acquisition through an analog digital converter.
Work Experience:
Scientist 1, Hanford Pharmaceuticals Syracuse, NY January 2016 September 2016
● Work as a bench chemist performing raw material and finished product testing on pharmaceuticals per SOPs and United States
Pharmacopeia (USP) and client procedures while maintaining strict deadlines. Performed pH, conductivity, TOC, friability,
hardness, FT/IR, KarlFischer Titrations, Residue on Ignition, Loss on drying, Uniformity of Dosage, Tapped Density, and
constituted solutions testing and interpreted the results. Trained analyst and performed instrument calibrations and
verifications while maintaining instruments.
Office Manager, Christopher Jenkins MD – Mobile, AL May 2013 – Fall 2015
● Worked as an office manager, taking payments, scheduling, and drug testing.
● Researched electronic medical record platforms for integration and integrated the platform.
House Manager, Circle K International – Hampden Sydney, VA Fall 2012 – Spring 2013
