Experimentation 6 months Synthesized and analyzed Super Adsorbent Polymers (SAPs) for their ability to adsorb Cu 2+ from aqueous solution. These materials could be applied to radioactive cleanup of nuclear byproducts such as 135 Cesium, 137 Cesium, and 90 Strontium isotopes. 6 months Researched the effectiveness of a novel bifunctional organocatalyst with both Lewis acid and base sites for the MoritaBaylisHillman (MBH) reaction. The Lewis Base portion of the molecule was synthesized and tested. A brief computational analysis of how geometric differences between several viable functional groups would affect the reaction was performed. 6 months Made and analyzed goat’s milk soap to find the saponification values of goat’s milk through titration experiments. 6 months Modernized a Spectronic 20 by integration of a Raspberry Pi, a microcomputer. Python coding language was used to code the microcomputer for data acquisition through an analog digital converter.
