• He was born in 1776 in Boston , Massachusetts
• He was married to Deborah Rodgers
• He had two sons William and Francis who died

• Studies on Whirlwinds and the Gulf Stream
Accomplished
• Proposed a "one-fluid" theory of electricity, which is charges lost by one body must be gained by another in equal amounts. Now known as the “law of conservation of charge”, it remains a fundamental scientific tenet.
• His famous kite experiment proved that lightning is an electric charge which led him to invent the lightning rod .
