Dear Golfers,

On behalf of all the staff, volunteers and participants of BC Adaptive Snowsports, I want to thank you all for coming out to golf and raise money for an important cause. Every year, BC Adaptive Snowsports and our clubs across BC (including Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks!) give many hundreds of children and adults with a disability the chance to experience the freedom and excitement of skiing and snowboarding. Our programs change lives, and we see this every season.

Your support at this event helps children like 11 year old Edison who has Angleman Syndrome, a neuro-genetic disorder characterized by intellectual and development delays. This year Edison received one of our equipment grants that enabled him to buy new gear so he could ski more independently, which he did and with a great big grin.

We are most grateful for the support of Sun Peaks Grand and the generosity of the staff who have worked so hard to put on this event. In particular, I’d like to thank Karen Weaver for her tireless efforts to make this inaugural tournament a success, and Kasey Nishimura for her ongoing support. We are so proud to have such a strong partnership with Sun Peaks Grand, which has become home to many of our events. I hope that you will all be able to join us on the mountains next season and see the magic in action.

All funds raised today will support the training of volunteers and purchase of equipment to enable more persons with a disability to get skiing and snowboarding. I encourage you to enjoy yourself, bid on auction items and give generously, because your support makes a big difference!

Sincerely,

Wayne LeslieExecutive DirectorBC Adaptive Snowsports

A MESSAGE FROM OUR

On behalf of the Telus team, I am very happy to extend a warm welcome to all attending the 3rd annual Sun Peaks Grand BC Adaptive Golf Tournament in beautiful Sun Peaks, BC. The goal of this tournament is to raise funds to support BC Adaptive Snowsports who provide opportunities for people with disabilities to enjoy the freedom and therapeutic benefits that skiing and snowboarding provide. This is a great way to raise awareness and we were very excited to join in when the opportunity to become a sponsor arose. Telus greatly values our partnerships and Sun Peaks, and on behalf of the team I would like to take this opportunity to thank our valued clients, Sun Peaks Grand and Sun Peaks Resort Corp for hosting this event. It’s a genuine pleasure to live and work with such a caring and generous group of community minded people. Kind regards, Kevin AdamsonTelus PureFibre Team

Richard Woods is a born and raised Kamloopsian, graduating from KSS (now SKSS) in 1993. After spending some time working in the hospitality industry, Richard went to BCIT to get his Diploma in Radio Broadcasting, graduating in 2002. His first job out of BCIT was back in his hometown, writing radio and TV commercials, at CFJC-TV, 98.3 CIFM, and B100. After 7 years in the Creative Writing department, Richard made the full time move to the on-air department, first as the Community Cruiser/Evening Announcer, and then the Midday Announcer on 98.3 CIFM. Just over a year ago he was given the chance to join Cheryl Blackwell in the morning on B100 as co-host of Good Morning Kamloops with Cheryl and Rich.

As a Kamloops boy and proud community supporter, and having watched Sun Peaks Resort grow from Tod Mountain into the 4 seasons resort that it is today, it is truly an honour to be your MC for the 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament.

Raised in Toronto and then Vancouver, Margit grew up listening to rock, folk and classical music. Her parents were music lovers. After moving to Kamloops in 1992, she built a successful career as a local musician and hasn’t looked back since her first gig at Sun Peaks Resort.

Rod started playing guitar at age 10 in Vancouver. He was playing in bands at age 16 and hasn’t stopped. Rod was a huge part of the indigenous band “Waskesu” in the mid 1990’s. They had the pleasure of playing for the Prime Minister and playing at the Commonwealth Games in Victoria along with Susan Aglukark and Kashtin. They also had quite a few appearances on Much Music.

Put these two together and you have the Margit Sky Project. Rod’s First Nations name is Little Sky. The decision was made to combine names. With Margit’s vocals and rhythm guitar and Rod’s jaw dropping lead guitar they have become a very sought after duo in the B.C. Interior. They have been fortunate enough to open for Kevin Costner and Modern West, Burton Cummings, Trooper, Barney Bentall, Elliot Brood and Ridley Bent. Margit and Rod are very passionate about their music and released their first cd in 2015 “It’s Been So Long”. Keep an eye on these two…they are an incredibly dynamic duo with a very bright future.
