Benedetta (Benedetta Cappa Marinetti, 14 August 1897-15 May 1977) was an Italian futurist writer, poet, choreographer and painter. She married Filippo Tommaso Marinetti in 1923. Her style was gentler and less one-sided than the male Futurists. She added metaphysical ideas to Futurism.

My knowledge of Italian is tiny. I get the impression that Le forze umane / The Human Force is an attempt to describe the emotional chemistry between people as if it were a scientifically measurable force. Each section of text is illustrated by a graphic synthesis.

I hope that stringing these graphic syntheses together without the accompanying text will still communicate something of her ideas about stages of emotional metamorphosis.

The subtitle Romanzo astratto con sintesi grafiche / Abstract romance with graphic syntheses brings to mind the more recent phenomena of abstract comics and bandes dessinées abstraites. It also reminds me of Françoise Rojare's traduction graphique / graphic translation titled Mnémopolis (in revue Change no. 5, Éditions du Seuil, Paris, 1970) of parts of the novel Compact, originally written by Maurice Roche [please freely view her graphic translation at http://avance.randomflux.info/Mnemopolis.pdf].
