The Port Terminal Railroad Association (P.T.R.A.) and the Port Houston Authority recently were the hosts of Vijaya K. Thapar, Director,Safety Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, New Delhi, India. Mr.Thapar, who was in the U.S. under the auspices of the United Nations,was in Houston to study the latest scientific techniques adopted for railsafety, use of safety equipment, methodology of initial and in-servicetraining of railwaymen, and formulation of general procedures for thesafe running of trains. During his stay in Houston, Mr. Thapar was givena first hand tour of the Port of Houston, visited the Port Terminal RailroadAssociation, toured NASA and was given a color plaque of the Port.Shown at the Houston World Trade Club during the presentation ore fromleft: T.E.
