What is the purpose of the job? • To be the primary point of contact between the designated business unit and IT with

the overall purpose being to deliver close alignment between the teams and, through this, add value to the organisation

• To be the business face into IT

• To work closely with other IT teams to ensure that the designated business unit has:

o an IT strategy

What do you have to achieve? • Work hand-in-hand with the designated business unit to translate the business

objectives & plans into achievable IT objectives, plans and service

• Re-build the dialogue with the business unit, establishing a strong business / IT team and gaining sponsorship for IT from key stakeholders

• Manage the expectations of the relevant business unit, facilitating its thinking and ensuring that proposals are realistic and grounded in the “art of the possible”

• Challenge and prioritise business requirements, so as to add real value to the process and not be purely a conduit for requirements

• Advise business customers at senior management level regarding the delivery, costs, availability and functionality of IT services and systems and to develop an effective partnership whilst at the same time acting as the ambassador for the IT function

Apply BCS SFIA framework to create job profiles

• Develop a business unit / IT operating plan to enable the business to make effective spend and investment decisions. Maximise economic efficiency, and value for money, through consistent delivery across customer base of IT services

• Work closely with the Strategy & Architecture team, develop the plans into a series of investment projects & programmes to produce a coherent 3 year IT Strategy for the business unit. Ensure that these programmes are prioritised with the business unit and have the requisite funding built into the operating plan, and have clear cost benefit analyses

• Oversee the process of justifying, costing, estimating and planning for a programme and gaining commitment from all parties to proceed through an agreed business case
