Description of The Activiy

Background :

This year is the 3rd year of the World Pharmacist Day, since its first establishment in 2009 by FIP. It is still not popular in Indonesia, even among students and lecturers in our faculty. As a future pharmacist we would like to start raising awareness of this day and also pharmacist profession to the society. It would be really nice if in the future this day will be commemorated in a larger scale and the profession of pharmacist is well-known.

Aims :

We want to inform the public about a profession called pharmacist and the duty of pharmacist so they understand if they want to ask about their medication they will see a pharmacist

Methods and used tools/materials :

We chose Malioboro street which is the most popular street in Yogyakarta. We give out stickers to people and also tell them information about pharmacist. The information given is about the role of pharmacist in a pharmacy and encourage people to ask about their medication to a pharmacist. We use big posters and walk around the street, standing near the traffic light to catch people attention

Results :

There are many different feedbacks we received. Some of them are enthusiast and show the willingness to learn. But some other are being skeptic and didn’t want to spare their time to listen to us. We mainly approached families and adults rather than children and young adults.

Comments and/or ideas arising from the activity :

This activity will be better and have a bigger impact if we have more people and if it’s held in a larger scale, e.g all pharmacy schools in Yogyakarta or all pharmacy schools in Indonesia. This is the first time our association conduct the event and I hope there will

be more pharmacy students involved in raising public awareness abut World Pharmacist Day or even the pharmacist profession itself
