The CYSS goal is to assist each child by promoting his/her in-tellectual growth, physical ability, and social skills. Under

the regulatory guidance of AR 608-10, CYSS programs are offered as a supplement to the family, not as a sub-stitute. Therefore, they seek the family’s involvement and welcome questions and comments.CYSS offers various programs to support children and families with child care, recreation, social-ization, and child development for children ages 4 weeks–19 years. The Child Development Centers

(CDCs) offer full day and hourly child care programs for ages 6 weeks–5 years old. School Age Services (SAS)

offers a variety of care, to include part day preschool and full day, hourly, and before and after school care for school

age children. The Family Child Care (FCC) program offers full day, hourly, before and after school, and extended hours care for ages 6 weeks–12 years old. The Youth Services (YS) program offers an after school middle school program, open recreation, health, fitness, and social opportunities for 6th grade and up, free of charge.

Child Development Centers (CDC’s)Army CYSS Programs have been described as “a model for the na-tion,” and they do the best to deserve that accolade! The rates are competitive with other programs of comparable quality. Hourly care is also available at South Post CDC Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–4:30 pm. Reservations may be made up to four weeks in advance. If you want to know about the daily lesson plans, schedules and routines, child growth and development issues, or what constitutes a quality day care experience for children, just ask. CYS registration is re-quired. Contact the registration office at 703.805.9114/9116/9118 for registration and enrollment information today, or visit our web site at www.belvoirmwr.com/cys.

Markham School Age Services (SAS)SAS has immediate openings for Kindergarten–6th grade for before and after school care and all-day care on school closure days. SAS complements the school day with a state of the art computer lab and

homework center. Staff coordinates with school personnel to ensure support with school assignments. The program is an affiliate of the Boys and Girls Club and 4-H. Trans-portation to and from Fort Belvoir Elementary School is provided by Fairfax County Public Schools.

During the school year SAS also has a part day preschool program for children 3–5 years old. Pro-grams available are for two, three, or five days from 9:30 am–1:30 pm. Curriculum emphasizes physical well-being, language usage, attentiveness, imagina-tion, knowledge about the world, and social emotional development.

Family Child Care (FCC) Work from HomeFort Belvoir FCC is looking for child care providers. Some benefits are: • Earn income while staying at home.• Receive support from Child, Youth and School (CYS) Services.• Long-lasting, portable career: FCC training and experience are transferable to other installations and CYS Services programs.• Opportunities for professional growth: FCC providers supported by FCC program in attaining Child Development Associate Cre- dential (CDA) and National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC) Accreditation.• Monetary subsidies linked to types of care offered. For more information about how to become a certified FCC provider, please contact the FCC office at 703.805.9137/9134.

Eligibility Requirements for CYSS ProgramsOpen to current DoD personnel—active duty, retiree (sports and youth activities) and DoD civilians. CYS Service fees are on a sliding scale based on income. Note: retirees are only eligible for our sports and SKIES Unlimited programs. Comparable off-post program fees are between $230 and $274 per week with non-refundable registration fees up to $150.
