James’ Note
Hello 2017!Is it just me or does the year
2000 only seem like a couple ofyears ago? How in the world didwe manage to blow by 16 yearsso quickly?
Here’s an idea to slow downthe time blowing by ... well, maybe not slow it down, butenjoy it while it whizzes by: Getinvolved with people around you!Whether you join the Men’s Clubouting to play a round of Pool(men), go on an outing that youhaven’t tried before, join thatgame or new activity, attend alecture you’ve always been curiousabout, or simply invite a newresident to lunch or dinner, it’s allabout being social in 2017. Social, and involved.
Research tells us thatmaintaining social connectionsimproves well-being. In contrast, loneliness is not healthy as it candisrupt sleep, increase depressionand can elevate blood pressure(and all of that sounds grim). Let’s
face it, at Belmont Village we havea ton of things to do - and themajority of people moved in tostay social-- with one another. So,enjoy the time as it whizzes by,say ‘hello’ and be kind to oneanother. I’ll see you all out there, involved and trying to slow itdown, one year after another.Happy New Year!
~James
