I cannot believe that we are now in December and that I have been your Executive Director for almost 12 months. What a sincere joy it has been for me and I am looking forward to the improvements that are planned for the community in 2016. Last month we said a temporary farewell and best of luck to Vida Gonzales, who has taken time off to have her beautiful baby daughter. At the writing of this newsletter, Vida has not given birth, but she is expecting the baby to arrive any day. We are anticipating Vida will return in February of next year, and in the meantime we are receiving support from Shar Gephardt, our Regional Director of Nursing and Care Services. As many of you may know, Shar is also the daughter of our lovely resident, Doris Zummach, so please say hello to Shar and help us make her feel welcome at the community. November was a very special month for me too because I got married. We had a fabulous celebration with family and friends, and I enjoyed a short vacation with my new spouse and family who joined us from all over the globe. Thank you so very much to those residents and families who gave me cards and well wishes; your love and kindness meant so much to me. Thank you also to residents and families who completed the annual satisfaction surveys. I look forward to hearing the results of the survey and to sharing that information with you next year. As I mention each month, I would like to welcome our new residents who joined the community in November and December. We hope that you enjoy living at our beautiful community, and that as you begin to settle, you will join in the various activities and resident meetings that are available each month. Now that we are in December, there will be lots of holiday activities, services and celebrations. So please look out for the calendar of events that have been put together by Jeremy and his intrepid team. We hope that you will also note the dates assigned to our Resident Council, Chef’s Chat and Resident Activity meetings. We always appreciate your ideas and feedback, and all residents are welcome to attend these important meetings. ...Continued on page 7
