Is it just me or does the year 2000 only seem like a couple of years ago? How in the world did we manage to blow by 16 years so quickly? Here’s an idea to slow down the time blowing by ... well, maybe not slow it down, but enjoy it while it whizzes by: Get involved with people around you! Whether you join the Men’s Club outing to play a round of Pool (men), go on an outing that you haven’t tried before, join that game or new activity, attend a lecture you’ve always been curious about, or simply invite a new resident to lunch or dinner, it’s all about being social in 2017. Social, and involved. Research tells us that maintaining social connections improves well-being. In contrast, loneliness is not healthy as it can disrupt sleep, increase depression and can elevate blood pressure (and all of that sounds grim). Let’s face it, at Belmont Village we have a ton of things to do - and the majority of people moved in to stay social-- with one another. So, enjoy the time as it whizzes by, say ‘hello’ and be kind to one another. I’ll see you all out there, involved and trying to slow it down, one year after another. Happy New Year! ~James A Huge Thank You! Dear residents and family members, Every year you give such a generous amount to the Employee Holiday Appreciation Fund. Well, the 2016 gift was another outstanding and mind blowing amount, and on behalf of all the Staff Members at Belmont Village, “Thank you for your generosity.” Everyone enjoyed the Hawaiian Christmas themed holiday party, catered by Too Tasty Catering, with hilarious games, and tons of raffle prizes. Thank you, again, residents and family members. We appreciate you! ~ Staff Members
