Benefits of TherapeuticMassage For Our Elders

Elderly massage offersnumerous benefits to our seniorcitizens, which can greatly help toimprove their health and well-being. The application of massagefor seniors is different than for theyounger population. The massagetherapist must know thephysiological changes that occurin the ageing body.

When we age, we become lessactive and this reduction inphysical activity contributes to thereduction of the quality of lifeexperienced by many seniorcitizens. Many studies have shownthat elderly massage therapy canbe of significant benefit inmanaging arthritis and a host ofother physical ailments.

Benefits of elderly massage are

patients, facilitatingrelaxation andcommunication.

• Arthritic pain management.• Increase in range of motion.• Promotion of natural joint

lubrication (important forArthritis sufferers).

• Increases in strength andmuscle coordination.
