RELEASED IN CELEBRATION OF TEN YEARS of ringing together, Decade features almost 75 minutes of music by one of Canada’s most accomplished handbell small ensembles.

Including selections from all the various styles and types of music that the Bellissima Ringers customarily perform, this is the first full-length CD recording by a Canadian handbell quartet.

Bellissima Ringers handbell quartet was formed in September 1997 and now collec-

tively represents about 80 years of handbell ringing experience. Bellissima Ringers are active

throughout southwestern Ontario and beyond. In addition to performances at many London

and area churches, the quartet has also performed at the London Convention Centre, at

the Covent Garden Market, and at the University of Western Ontario, entertaining President

Davenport’s special guests at his Christmas Holiday Reception. The group has appeared on

two London television shows: the New PL’s New Day, and Rogers TV’s Daytime, as well as

performing on CJBK Radio’s Talk of the Town with host Jim Chapman.

Bellissima Ringers have appeared in concert with the London-based semi-professional

brass ensemble, BRASSROOTS, and performed at Guelph Fest. It formed the core of choirs

that performed at the Stratford Summer Music Festival, and in special Christmas concerts

with Orchestra London Canada. In 2003, the Bellissima Ringers played the handbell part

in the Toronto production, broadcast nationally on CBC-TV, of Benjamin Britten’s Noye’s

Fludde, and in 2004, reprised this performance as part of a tribute to Nicholas Goldschmidt

(The Joy of Niki) at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. In July 2005, the quartet performed at the

Canadian handbell festival, The Ringing Link, in Penticton, and toured BC, presenting con-

certs in North Vancouver, Gabriola Island, Vancouver and Kelowna.
