Mission: The purpose of this chapter is to advance the understanding and commitment of the next generation of health professionals to patient safety and quality improvement in healthcare locally, nationally, and globally. Fall 2015 Activities: IHI Open School Kick Off Event with speaker, Jody Wilmet, Vice President of Cancer, Diagnostics & Hospital Based Physician Services at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, WI. Topics discussed regarding the IHI/Commonwealth Fund International Program for US Health Care Delivery System Innovation Hospital projects for evidenced-based practice Pledge-A-Thon Spring 2016 Activities: Cancer survivor presentation on her personal patient experience related to care, quality, safety, and patient- provider interaction. “Quality and Safety Week” simulation labs utilized for practice and participation in medical scenarios. Our Goal is to familiarize students with quality and safety errors in healthcare, and how to act appropriately and professionally in these situations.
