getting aroundVIA Rail BellevilleVIA Rail passenger service provides connections to all major cities. Customers can experience new efficiencies as a result of our modernized station facilities as well as daily stops in Belleville.

Belleville TransitBelleville operates a transit service that runs seven days per week and travels to most urban areas in the community. Convenient bus stops and times have been carefully planned to ensure the most efficient and user friendly service possible.

Belleville is at the forefront of a revolutionized transit service through the introduction of an on-demand bus-hailing system. The system is used on the Route 11 night bus.

1. Sign –up through the online Belleville Lets Go application.

2. Use the map to select the stop and time you want to be picked up from and dropped off at.

3. Keep up to date on the status of your request.

A mobility bus service is also provided to ensure those with physical challenges can readily travel throughout the community.

Unique LearningAcademy of Learning College has been part of the Belleville business community for over 20 years and is recognized in the Province of Ontario as a registered Private Career College. The college offers diploma and certificate programs in accounting, business, medical, information technology and more.

Belleville is also home to Albert College, Canada’s oldest, independent, co-educational, day and boarding school. With over 150 years of experience and excellence, Albert College

provides an enriched and engaging curriculum from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 and Post Graduate. A home away from home to students from Canada and over 20 nations.

Loyola School of Adult and Continuing Education welcomes the return of former students to the education system. Montessori is a philosophy and method of education that has been helping children reach

Loyalist CollegeWhen it comes to grads getting jobs, Loyalist College is the #1 College in Ontario. The College has a strong tradition in graduate employment – Loyalist grads have always achieved high placement rates. health careQuinte Health Care provides a wide range of high quality health care services to 160,000 people through four hospitals in the region - including Belleville General Hospital (BGH) which is the largest and operates as the main centre for healthcare in the region. BGH currently provides primary and secondary care with a total of 192 beds for acute medical patients, intensive care, obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health, complex continuing care, rehabilitation and surgery, and offers a full range of clinics, diagnostic services, support services and outreach programs.

QHC Belleville General Hospital is located at 265 Dundas St. E. Belleville.

When it comes to pediatric care, Quinte Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine is a community pediatric practice located in Belleville that provides medical care to infants, children and adolescents.

After hours clinic and medical service clinics are located throughout the City as well as dental,

chiropractic, physical therapy, massage therapy and naturopath services.

The Hastings and Prince Edward Health Unit is headquartered in Belleville, providing dozens of programs and services, along with reliable health information to local residents.

The City provides incentives through the Doctor Recruitment Program to attract new family physicians to Belleville. 2018 was an exceptional year, with eight new physicians wanting to settle here and approved under the program. The City has attracted 34 new physicians in total since implementing the incentive program.

Family doctors are a key component of ensuring our community is ready for new growth and development and this program speaks volumes about the readiness of our community to embrace new health care providers.

parks & recreationKnown for its hundreds of acres of parks and kilometres of scenic trails, Belleville is the ideal place for outdoor enthusiasts. The City maintains over 500 acres of parkland at 55 locations, as well as over 45 kilometres of well-groomed trails that are maintained for year-round activities.

Belleville’s unique natural features can be enjoyed along our beautiful waterfront trail – which can all be seen by bike! Over the past several years the City has opened our first on-street bicycle lanes, constructed a new

path along a major arterial road, paved and lit existing paths and started construction on the first phase of an active transportation path connecting Loyalist College to our newly revitalized downtown.

Winter adventures wait for you, with hiking, fishing, snowshoeing and skating activities that celebrate Belleville’s winter landscape. Christmas at the Pier – Belleville’s iconic Christmas Lighting Display located at Jane Forrester Park – is the official kick-off to the holiday season each year.

Belleville is serviced by two electricity providers, Elexicon Energy and Hydro One.

The City of Belleville’s Green Bin Organic Waste Recycling Program is designed to help our environment by reducing the amount of waste that reaches our landfills. history and heritageGlanmore National Historic Site

Built in 1882 – 1883 and designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1969 in recognition of its exceptional 2nd Empire architecture. The grand interior includes beautiful hand-painted ceilings and ornate woodwork. The museum cares for an extensive collection of antique furniture, paintings and ceramics. Winner of 2016 Peter Stokes Restoration Award from the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario and open year-round.

Hastings Regimental Museum

The United Empire Loyalists who settled in the counties of Hastings and Prince Edward organized the first Militia units for self-defense. The Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment is the modern descendant of those Militia units and showcases interactive displays, photos, equipment and much more. Belleville has 33 designated heritage sites, all with their architectural history preserved.

The façade improvement program was designed to encourage preservation of the architectural traditions upon which the character of the downtown of the City of Belleville is based; to encourage restoration and rehabilitation of the older downtown buildings and maintaining

consistency in design of these buildings; and to preserve downtown Belleville’s unique historic character.

Tax Rebate

The tax rebate program is designed to encourage the upgrading and/or restoration of existing buildings by providing an incentive for those who undertake such work to benefit from gradual tax increases through a tax rebate program.

HEXO Corp Belleville’s centralized location, conveniently located along primary shipping routes in Ontario, will allow HEXO to process and distribute cannabis-based products to fulfil its commitments across Canada.

In October of 2018 HEXO Corp acquired 25% of the former 2 million sq. ft. Sears Warehouse to establish a centre of excellence for the development and manufacturing of advanced cannabis products. HEXO creates and distributes innovative, easy to use and easy to understand products to serve the Canadian cannabis market. HEXO operates in the Gatineau Region with 1.3 million sq. ft of production capacity. Belleville is the first facility that the company has established outside of Quebec and will be focused on packaging and distributing the product.

Once up to full speed in the spring of 2019, HEXO anticipates the creation of 200 jobs from its initial 579,000 sq. ft. lease.

Bell Boulevard Shopping Centre will feature Costco plus 14 other retail stores and a gas bar.

Hampton Inn & Suites Construction of a new hotel is underway on the east portion of the Pioneer Gas Station property at the corner of Wallbridge-Loyalist Road and Bell Boulevard. This five storey hotel will create an additional 101 rooms in the City of Belleville.

Intercontinental Hotel Group has received a minor variance approval for a new hotel to be located on Bell Boulevard. This 6-storey hotel will provide an additional 105 rooms in the City of Belleville.

Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen An 1850 sq. ft. building is underway immediately south of Panera Bread for this multinational chain of fried chicken fast food restaurant.

Talize, a Canadian owned and operated for profit second hand clothing retailer, is opening in the addition on the eastern side of the former Zeller’s Plaza located at 199 Bell Boulevard.

Vision Transportation on College Street East is scheduled to start construction of a minimum 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse and distribution facility on land recently purchased from the City.

Burger RevolutionA destination for burger aficionados far and wide. This popular eatery has been featured on the Food Network’s ‘You Gotta Eat Here’, has earned tons of praise on social media and according to Days Out Ontario has the best burger in the Province. Owners and chefs Jeff and Rayling Camacho have proven that a burger can be gourmet, and if it tastes good and tastes different,

people will come back. What sets Burger Revolution apart is that 85 per cent of what is on the menu is made in house and sourced locally. Their meat is cut and ground every morning and the burgers are formed every night, so every burger is fresh, never frozen.

The Brake RoomAdam Tilley had a vision to create a business that was unique, but that also made a positive impact on the community; something that would bring people together with a common desire to live healthier and more sustainable. The Brake Room is a bike shop with a contagious coffee shop. With a background in the food service industry, as well as a lifelong passion of cycling, Adam spent a great deal of time deducing a way of bringing both those experiences to life in a business that is special in the Bay of Quinte Region.

Vantage Point Media HouseFounder Nick Pujic started about a decade ago, operating from a basement with limited gear and producing popular videos and programming for fly fishing fans.
