Here are a few notes & reminders …

PLEASE send your child(ren) in heavy winter style jackets or double layers – we will be going to the bus until the weather gets too

cold or it snows – then we typically head for a walk in the morning – it is quite chilly without the sun’s strength

I will be sending home spring/summer clothes – please, if you haven’t already, send some cold weather clothes for fall/winter (pants,

long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts) and of course you can already send all your winter gear – you are free to bring extra ‘sets’ of coats,

snow pants and boots here if you have them – I have storage for those items – I also have an abundance of hats and mittens on hand

Now that the weather is changing (sadly) please remove your shoes when you come in the house … I’ve got little ones crawling and

walking and they truly ENJOY eating new items found – especially pine needles and mulch

Just a reminder – Now that the school year has begun I STOP serving breakfast at 7:45am – if you are planning on your child(ren)

having breakfast at my house please have them here by that time – we get ready to head to the bus stop at 8:35 and then walk out

the door at 8:40 so the sooner I can have breakfast cleaned up the less scrambling I have to do before heading out the door. Thank

you.

PLEASE take note of the Swim Meet Changes for October – swim meets have switched to Tuesday’s now vs Thursday’s – I will add

those dates to the October Calendar, the Newsletter and the Entry Way Welcome Board as well

RECIPE CORNER: HALLOWEEN (kid) drinks …

GHOUL Aid:

- (1) envelope cherry KOOL-AID

- (1) envelope grape KOOL-AID

- (1) envelope tropical punch KOOL-AID

- 2 ¾ cups sugar

- 18 cups cold water

- Ice Cubes

Directions: Add all (3) flavors of KOOL-AID to a punch bowl, add water sugar and

ice – stir until sugar is dissolved.

Jolly Vampire: - 1 Liter Bottle of Cherry 7up

- 12 Red Jolly Ranchers

- Red Twizzlers for sipping

- Ice

Directions: Add the ice and the Cherry 7up to a punch bowl. Before serving,

garnish the glass with two Twizzler candies for guests to use as sweet

straws. Alternatively, skip the Twizzlers and add a little sparkle to each

glass by garnishing the glass rim with the crushed Jolly Ranchers before

adding the ice and Cherry 7up.

Pumpkin Milkshake: - 1/3 cup pumpkin puree

- 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar

- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla

- 1/4 cup 1 percent milk

- 2 cups vanilla ice cream (or yogurt)

- teaspoon of cinnamon for sprinkling on top

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend. Sprinkle with

cinnamon for garnish.

Witch’s Brew Mocktail: - 4 parts apple cider

- 1 part ginger ale

- Honey and crushed chocolate cookie crumbs (to rim glass)

- Gummy worms for garnish

Directions: Prep the Glass: On a plain salad plate, crush 10 chocolate

cookies. You can choose to do so with your hands, a food processor, or you

can place them in a plastic bag and run them over with a rolling pin. On a

separate plate, pour ¼ cup of honey. Using a clear glass mug, tip the glass

upside-down and dip the top rim of the mug in honey, then dip the rim into

the crushed wafers. Make sure it coats the rim. When complete simply add

the contents of your drink. Pour 4 parts of the cider (warmed up) into a

specially prepared glass mug. Top with 1 part of ginger ale and have the

kids accent the drinks with gummy worms!

Cyclops Martini: - 3 ounces of Green Apple Soda

- 1 ounce of Ginger Ale

- Whipped Cream for garnish

- Green Grape for garnish

- Ice

Directions: In a punch glass add ice, green apple soda and ginger ale. Allow

guests to ladle themselves a glass, but have a few drinks already poured and

garnished with whipped cream and a green grape to show them how to make

this creepy cocktail even more festive and sweet.

Candy Corn Smoothies:

– 1 pint (2 cups) coconut sorbet, slightly softened

- 6 tablespoons milk

- 1 pint (2 cups) orange sherbet, slightly softened

- 1 pint (2 cups) lemon sorbet, slightly softened

- 4 drops yellow food color

- Candy corn, if desired

Directions: In blender, place coconut sorbet and 2 tablespoons of the milk.

Cover; blend on high speed 30 to 60 seconds or until smooth. Divide evenly

among 8 glasses. Place glasses in freezer. Rinse blender then place the

orange sherbet and 2 tablespoons of milk in blender. Cover; blend on high

speed 30-60 seconds or until smooth. Pour over coconut mixture in glasses,

divided evenly. Return glasses to freezer. Repeat above steps using the

lemon sherbet. Pour that mixture over the other two in glasses divided

evenly. Return to freezer. Garnish with candy corn when serving.
